just your luck KOSUKE AKIYAMA - this is horrible but hopefully not too hard to reply too ;w; How he wished he had money! Of course that would be the worst of his woes. Not the fact he was a slave or even the fact he was technically a runaway at the moment because of his little escape. No, he wanted cash. It wouldn't have even been that bad if it were for something important like food or clothing but no. He didn't even give you that much. Instead, the urakata was pouting at the sight of the arcade. What he would have given to be able to play a game! Just one of the side effects of being a slave, no? That was perhaps the one thing he missed about being free, sadly. But even the childish Chiro wouldn't go back to his old life for the chance to visit the arcade freely. Food topped his love for video games. But that didn't mean he couldn't pout and whine about it anyway. Which he was going to do regardless. At least until he gathered the courage to go ahead in anyway. He might not be able to actually play but that didn't mean he couldn't watch other people, he supposed. Even though that itself was a bit boring. He couldn't be too picky, though.
Walking in, the urakata might have seemed like your average human. Aside from the rather tight collar around his neck, of course. His tail was hidden away under his shirt while ears, flattened against his dark hair, seemed nonexistent to the untrained eye. It was both a means to keep attention off of himself as well as stray hunters off his path should he run into any. Having escaped the auction house, no doubt they'd send someone after him once they realized. But he'd hold off having to go back "home" for as long as he could. There might have been consequences but he wasn't too concerned about that at the moment, the only thing being on his mind was the arcade. He kind of wondered if he'd find his brother in here. It was quite the long shot, as he probably left town if he hadn't already been caught, but it was a nice thought nonetheless.
Back to the situation at hand, however, the cat urakata made his way around the arcade, trying to find anything that caught his interest or maybe even spot a few loose change here and there to play himself. There were a few eyes that fell on him but luckily, no one seemed suspicious enough to stop him or question why an urakata was there. He still had his blending in skills from his days as a child, it seemed. He smirked at the thought, amused. He wondered how'd they react if he were to reveal himself. Not that he planned to anytime soon. That would cut his little field trip short real quick.
Bright blue eyes scanned the area, Kichiro occasionally peeking over every other player to watch them play, laughing to himself whenever his presence would distract them enough but always fleeing before he'd get into too much trouble. As much as he loved causing mischief, he really didn't feel like getting kicked out for being too annoying. So he knew better than to push past his limits. Besides, he had to keep from getting too excited, else he might reveal himself as no ordinary human and that would be no good either. It was a a whole lot of trouble, really. More than it was probably worth. But he didn't seem too fazed. At least not enough to find something else to entertain himself with. However, there was something particular that caught his interest.
Bright colors were quite attractive to the feline. So light blue hair was no different. A young male donning that particular hair was what caught his eye. He wondered if he'd been there the whole time and he simply hadn't noticed. Surely not, he thought. He would have noticed that sooner. Of course, this attention was enough to gather the cat's natural curiosity and he approached the stranger to see what he was up to. "Whatcha playing?" he questioned, straightforward as ever. Probably rude and unwanted attention but he didn't mean to cause any harm. He simply was trying to be friendly. Besides, the guy was alone and that itself made it easier for him to approach. made by CAPTAIN of GANGNAM STYLE

NOTES hope this is okay ; u; TAG @doge3 ❀ | The moment Kosuke stepped out of his apartment, he wondered if it was a mistake. The world was so big and...full of people...he didn't know...Certainly it was better for him to just turn right around and crawl under a blanket with his laptop. But his older brother had been goading him to go outside more often, and he had made a promise to the man...So he was doing his best to actually stick to his word. Even if it made him feel somewhat sick at times, thanks to the clench of anxiety in his sternum and gut. He just had to remember to take deep breaths and stick to places that weren't too extremely crowded.
Once outside though, he ran into another predicament: what to do? He didn't think that going to the movies or getting something to eat alone sounded very appealing...That just sort of reinforced how alone he was since his elder sibling was too busy to hang out with him today. So for a while he dawdled, doing absent-minded laps around his apartment complex as he tried to decide what to do. He had one hand curled about his scarf, and the other in his pocket, fidgeting with his cellphone. It took quite a bit of willpower for him not to flip out the object and start texting his brother. He knew the man had work to do, so he really shouldn't interrupt that...But it was still very tempting. With a huff, he shoved the phone a bit deeper into his pocket and pulled his hand back out.
Maybe...Maybe he'd just wander out and something would strike his fancy? That sounded like a nebulous plan at best, but after some stalling he went for it. What was the worst that could happen? Besides him making a fool of himself and wanting to die in a corner somewhere...
Okay, optimism! He took a deep breath and tried to force his thoughts onto a positive track. Easier said than done, but he was doing his best and that's what counted...right? After some wandering, he eventually found himself standing in front of the arcade. Oh, wow. He couldn't believe he had almost forgotten this place was so close by! That definitely solved his dilemma on how to spend the afternoon. Yeah, okay, big brother would probably complain that sticking to himself and playing a game wasn't very social but...but he was outside, that was the important part!
After some perusal of the new games that had been added since his last visit, he settled on a fighting game. After feeding it a few coins, it didn't take him very long to get deeply engrossed into playing. So much so that he began to tune out his surroundings...Thus, when someone near by him spoke, he startled badly, head jerking up, bangs flopping about his face.
"Oh--Oh...uh...h-...hi..." Kosuke stammered thanks to the surprise and his natural nervousness. He put on his best smile, which was all sorts of awkward and sheepish. His gaze momentarily gravitated to the collar about the male's neck, but he didn't pay it too much mind. Fashion trends were weird nowadays. Releasing the joystick, he tugged absently on his scarf and remembered then that he had been asked a question. "Um...It's Persona 4 Arena..." |

just your luck He had no intentions of scaring him but he couldn't help but laugh at the man's scare. Jumpy human, wasn't he? He grinned playfully in contrast to the other's sheepish smile, offering his own "Hey!" in response to the shy greeting. He supposed that's how you properly introduced yourself, eh? Well he didn't seem to have time for that before. It wasn't a necessity in his mind to go through the usual routine. Just jump right into it. But he decided to perhaps be a bit more careful or perhaps simply considerate to this seemingly timid fellow. Didn't want him dying of a heart attack or anything, right? "Didn't mean to scare ya." he finished with a chuckle, scratching the back of his head and generally looking apologetic. Even though he still found it quite amusing. But it was better to settle any tension right away, right? At least he thought that was the best course of action before he tried to go any further. It was the least he could do since this human was paying him some attention. Most of the others didn't seem interested in welcoming an outsider. Not that he was going to complain too much.
The blue haired fellow also had the decency to humor him, answering his question that the urakata could have clearly found out himself if he'd bothered to look at the title right above the machine. He seemed intrigued though, eyes sparkling as he looked over to the screen. "Oooohhh! Is it new?" he pressed further, not really expecting any sort of answer nor actually giving the other time to respond anyway as he continued. "Some kind of fighting game?" The feline was a self proclaimed gamer, having a love for any game he could actually get his hands on. But having been cooped up as a slave for the last couple of years, he hadn't really had much of a chance to keep up with the latest releases and whatnot. He couldn't even remember the last time he'd even visited this arcade aside from the times when he was free. So he had a lot to catch up on. And unfortunately, for some reason Kichiro decided this guy was the one to pester about it.
"You seem pretty good at it." he finished with a big grin, seeming very talkative. Really, he was just a big five year old who was easily amused. It wasn't necessarily a bad thing though, unless you were easily annoyed. He was fully aware his presence could be quite annoying. But, again, he didn't seem bothered by it at all. As long as he was having fun, things were A-OK. And it didn't hurt if others were happy as well. For him, it was hard to enjoy himself while others were having a hard time. Perhaps that was another reason he felt compelled to approach the other. made by CAPTAIN of GANGNAM STYLE

NOTES <3 TAG @doge3 ❀ | The programmer just didn't do well around strangers. It was no one's fault, really, just a combination of his personality type and the upbringing he received. So even though this individual seemed to practically be radiating friendliness, he still found himself on edge thanks to his anxiety. He continued to fidget with his scarf as he watched the other man. His free hand snaked up to push a few bothersome bangs out of his face. "It's, um, it's okay," He really didn't want anyone to feel bad because of his own jumpiness. It wasn't the stranger's fault that Kosuke was easily startled. He tried for another awkward little smile to reassure that it was all good. It was unlikely the expression would be winning him any awards anytime soon, but it was sincere at least.
Watching the other male look the game over, he couldn't help but tilt his head with a little curiosity. Sure, the curiosity was bundled with a ton of nerves as well, but it was still there. This individual seemed rather enthusiastic about games...Which, okay, was almost a given thanks to their current surroundings, but still. There were varying levels of interest and some people just didn't like to talk about some things. So that eased his anxiousness a tad. At the very least he wouldn't be viewed as huge nerd or something.
The guy seemed to talk a lot, but that was okay with Kosuke. It gave him time to simply nod along, letting him go quiet for a little while so he could gather his thoughts and put them to words. He had a tendency to overanalyze his words in face to face conversation. It was so much easier online to just rattle off whatever he was thinking. "I...think it's new...um...It wasn't here...last time I was here..." Conveniently leaving out the fact that it had been some time since he had even come to the arcade. Technicalities. "It's a fighting game, yeah...Um..." There was an awkward pause, and his gaze dropped downwards for a moment, staring at his feet as if the floor beneath had some sort of answer.
"Um...Did you...want to try it?" While he asked, he worked on fishing a few quarters from his pocket. It just felt like the right thing to do, this stranger seemed really enthusiastic about it.

just your luck Chiro couldn't help but notice him fiddling with his scarf more and more, his pupils growing slightly as he focused on it before he managed to regain his composure, quick enough before his ears could be revealed. Of course, anyone behind him might have noticed something moving on his back, his tail no doubt flicking out of habit. He was a cat after all. But he managed to ignore his instinctual urges to swat at the moving fabric. He smiled slightly at the thought, flashing those sharpened canines, more so when he assured him that he didn't mind the scare so much. That was good. He had a bad habit of accidentally ruining impressions like that. Nothing he could do about it, he supposed.
- "I...think it's new...um...It wasn't here...last time I was here... It's a fighting game, yeah...Um..."
His head tilted in confusion, smile fading somewhat. He stammered quite a bit, he realized. Could he perhaps be more scared than he was trying to let on? Now that he really took it into consideration, this guy seemed pretty nervous. That awkward pause and the fact he'd look down to his own feet was enough to confirm his suspicions. This guy was pretty shy. He was surprised he hadn't noticed it sooner. Then again, he was so excited about being here he supposed he should give himself some credit. Still, he found the fact he was shy kinda cute, albeit unnecessary. He smirked at the thought. "Don't be so shy. I'm not gonna bite, I promise." he explained. Saying that was nothing too out of the ordinary but for an urakata with some sharp teeth, he was used to having to promise people he wasn't going try and eat them or any such nonsense. "Well... Maybe. You might taste good." he joked with a mischievous wink. Well.. At least he behaved for a few minutes?
- "Um...Did you...want to try it?"
Now that caught him off guard. Enough so to shut him up for a few seconds as he replayed what he said a few times in his head. Just to be sure he wasn't just hearing things. He was just genuinely surprised. Not to say everyone behaved like an ass towards him but for the most part, he wasn't given such generosity since he's become a slave. Of course, this guy didn't know who, or rather what, he was talking to. Before he realized it, the strange human was already reaching for some quarters. "You sure?" he asked, sounding somewhat skeptical but at the same time hopeful. That really would have made his day. He hadn't played a game in what felt like forever and surely doing something like that would make this whole trip worth while. However, he tried to refrain from getting his hopes up, patiently waiting for a confirmation that he wasn't at all playing a dirty trick on him. That would just be too cruel. made by CAPTAIN of GANGNAM STYLE

NOTES he's trying very hard to be brave XDD TAG @doge3 ❀ | Just breathe. That's what mattered. Breathe and keep his heart rate down. The fingers of one hand curled about the hem of his scarf, long fingers idly stroking along the edge as he finally pulled a few coins from his pockets. The commentary regarding him being too shy caused a sheepish smile to spread across his pale features. "Oh...yeah...I--...Um. I'm just naturally nervous I guess, haha," Sounding just as awkward and foolish as ever. He immediately closed his mouth and worried at the inside of his lower lip. It was really rather hard for him to talk about his social anxiety. He always felt ridiculous, because when one looked at it from a detached point of view, it was pretty silly. How hard was talking to other people? Still, it was pretty difficult.
Hearing that he might be bitten if he tasted good threw him off a bit, and before he knew it, his cheeks had flushed with a light pink. He clenched his free hand about his scarf, his other hand just sort of pushing around the quarters in his palm with his thumb. "Um..." What was the appropriate response to that? He had issues alone in normal situations but when it came to teasing...He was just that much more inept. In the end he decided the best bet was to just not say anything at all, so he instead he turned his attention back to the game console.
It was a bit strange how surprised the other seemed to be at his offer. The man went quiet for a while and then finally questioned his certainty. "Yeah...um...I mean...if that's okay? If you...if you don't want to, that's okay too...I just thought maybe...you'd want to? You looked pretty psyched...? Or...or something..." He released his scarf to rub at the back of his neck slightly as he spoke, worrying at his lower lip.
"We could, um...Play versus too, if you...wanted...?" When in doubt, focus on talking about the video game. It gave him something to fixate on rather than stand there and over-analyze what he was saying.

just your luck KOSUKE AKIYAMA - my muse was slowing down for the night so i hope this isn't too bad uwu;; To be honest, he could never understand why some people were so damn shy. It wasn't a bad thing, as some really had reason to, he supposed, but that didn't make it any less strange, especially for the very social feline. He tried to be open-minded. He really did. Put himself into their shoes. But he just couldn't get it and tried with much difficulty to make them feel comfortable enough to just relax. Of course, as proven, he wasn't exactly good at it. It was the thought that counted, right? Of course the thought would count for shit if he actually did scare him off.
- "Um..."
Okay.. So maybe he needed to take a more gentler approach. Because obviously that confused the poor guy. Sadly, he still couldn't help but laugh a bit at that, covering his mouth in attempt to be somewhat polite about it. The fact he had gotten flustered was enough to entertain the young male. While messing with angry people was always fun, the shy guys were always a treat. Their reactions were quite amusing. But he had the decency to not go too far with it. That would just be mean. He was playful, not mean spirited. And he didn't want this guy getting the wrong idea. "Don't worry, I was joking." Though to be honest, he had tried once out of curiosity. Let's just say he wouldn't make a very good vampire. And his master at the time certainly wasn't pleased with the kitten using him as a chew toy. Oh well! You live and you learn.
- "Yeah...um...I mean...if that's okay? If you...if you don't want to, that's okay too...I just thought maybe...you'd want to? You looked pretty psyched...? Or...or something..."
The way this guy stumbled around his words might have entertained him further, or maybe even annoyed him with how long it took him to settle on an answer, but he was more focused on the fact he was indeed serious about his offer, even further pleased when he suggested playing together. Cause, to be honest, when he was questioning how genuine he was about the offer, he considered the fact the human simply wanted to get away from him. He'd had that happen before. Act of kindness merely masking an attempt at ditching him. It was sad, but he was definitely used to it. Though, admittedly, he'd have preferred them being an ass out front rather than lie to him like that. But that didn't matter this time though as the human had proven that wasn't his intentions. At least not currently.
The smile on his face spoke volumes and he was clearly excited now that he knew the offer was real. Not only that but someone wanted to play with him. "That would be amazing!" he spoke with much emphasis on every word. He was even about to hug him for his kindness but decided against it. If saying he was going to bite him was enough to freak him out, no doubt would him invading his personal space. "Let's do it!" he nodded, acting much like a kid in a candy shop. He'd managed to gather some attention with his loudness but didn't seem to really notice or even care for that matter, just enjoying the moment as always. made by CAPTAIN of GANGNAM STYLE

NOTES it's fiiine <3 TAG @doge3 ❀ | Hearing that the other had been joking made him relax a bit more. With all the stuff people posted on the internet, he almost half-expected the man to be serious. He supposed biting someone had to be pretty low on the list of weird things that were talked about online, but...That didn't mean he was eager to experience it any time soon. Especially not with a stranger. "Oh...Okay...Sorry," Not that there was anything to apologize for really, but it left him reflexively before he had much chance to stop it. With how timid he was, he was always rather worried about upsetting people...In real life, at least. Online it was much easier to make mischief and troll strangers.
Thankfully though, he had something else entirely to occupy his attention now. And it was a forte of his. Video games were great! When his new acquaintance agreed, he perked up immediately, his smile widening a bit more into something a little less tense. There were a couple things that could get Kosuke talking without fretting too much about things, due to the fact that he'd be distracted...And that was programming and video games. Bobbing his head in a nod, he popped enough quarters into the slot of the machine for the both of them. Both hands freed now, he smoothed down the front of his jacket absently and tugged at his scarf before he took up the joystick.
"Um...Just...Just because we don't know each other really, doesn't mean--...I'm going to be easy on you," Kosuke said quietly, somehow managing to be both awkward and quite serious at the same time. Fighting games were competitive, man! It was definitely serious business.

just your luck Kichiro shrugged off the apology, not bothered either way. It wasn't an apology worthy situation but if he felt like he had to apologize then he supposed he wouldn't stop him. Besides, he had this feeling calling him out on it would only make him more uncomfortable and that wouldn't be a very good thing. He was being nice to him so far. He didn't want to scare off a potential friend. Right away at least. He chuckled at the thought.
He took comfort in the fact the stranger also seemed a bit excited by the deal, noting how that smile changed a bit. It didn't seem as forced now and that made him laugh. To be completely honest, he felt a little victorious about that, regardless of whether or not he had actually anything to do with that. He'd claim that he was the reason he made the man smile, if not just to boost his own ego.
Turning to face the machine, he watched as he put in the coins, the game roaring to life. Chiro's ears perked at the sound it'd make, becoming visible for a split moment before he flattened them once more, casually looking about to make sure no one had noticed. He didn't feel like being run out or bullied. Not now when he was finally getting the chance to do something for a change. That would just suck. Luckily, it didn't seem anyone really noticed. At least, there were no angry or shocked. There were a few people looking there way but nothing worth fretting over, right? He decided it was not. Surely they'd have said something if they had saw. So with that, he turned back his attention to the game, barely catching the other's attempt at smack talk.
- "Um...Just...Just because we don't know each other really, doesn't mean--...I'm going to be easy on you,"
"Oh really~?" he spoke in a singsong tone, clearly amused by the words rather than intimidated. "Good! I'd be insulted if you did." he chuckled. He certainly didn't want him going easy on him. Where would the fun be in that? Sure, he had a slight disadvantage since he wasn't sure how to play this particular game, but he was confident enough he'd come out on top. Or maybe he was just being too cocky. Regardless, he checked the player select screen for anyone that caught his interest, merely going for the coolest looking character since he had no real experience with them before. Once the blue haired stranger decided as well, he'd smirk. "Give it your best shot."
Yeah he was being just a little bit too cocky. Considering he was mostly going to be button smashing till he figured out how the fuck he was supposed to play. Oh well! As long as he had fun, right? made by CAPTAIN of GANGNAM STYLE

NOTES lol how to rp vidya games TAG @doge3 ❀ | The response he received only made him smile a bit more. It was much easier to swallow his anxiety when games were at stake. Likely because gaming involved a lot of not looking at the person you were talking to, and generally...not much talking at all. His lips pursed slightly and his tongue stuck out slightly in concentrated thought as he debated on which character to choose. In the end he decided to go for the one he had just been using before the conversation started. Might as well use something he was familiar with. Was that fair? Well, that didn't matter really given the fact that he had just proclaimed to not go easy on the other man. So he wasn't about to go back on his word. That'd be worse than all of his earlier floundering combined.
Granted, he thought he was much better at PC games, but there was a certain thrill to be had at spazzing out with a joystick with one hand and mashing buttons with the other. There was a little tactical nature to it, you had to know the special combos, but that didn't make the act any less silly looking or frantic. And that's what made it fun, he thought. It's not like he could do this at home with a keyboard, he'd probably break it knowing his luck. But at the arcade he could let loose, and since he didn't go out that often it just made him put even more effort into it.
At one point he realized he was laughing loudly and then flustered and bit down into his lower lip. Geeze, he was a huge dork wasn't he? He could embrace that online but in public that was a bit much...But...It was a good match! And that's what was important. No time to wallow in embarrassment at his silliness, he had to congratulate his companion for the good game. Releasing the joystick, he pivoted slightly towards the other man, his expression caught somewhere between a sheepish smile and a goofy grin.
"Good game--" He had started to raise his hand for a high-five, and it ended up hovering mid-gesture because a) it wasn't like this was normal for him and b) he didn't know this guy's name. Cue awkward fumbling. "Ah...um...What's your name? I'm, I'm Kosuke."

just your luck Let the button mashing begin! And so it did, Chiro's tongue sticking out the corner of his mouth as he tried to concentrate on his opponent, hoping that whichever button he pushed at the time would be enough, biting his tongue, a bit roughly, whenever he got knocked back instead. But miraculously, he manged to keep afloat, proving to be a pretty good player despite his lack of experience. Well, he didn't boast himself as a gamer for nothing! Okay.. Most of it was probably luck. But that fact was ultimately unnoticed or at least seemed that way as the stranger too enjoyed the match, his laughter proving such. The urakata had almost messed up looking over to him, grinning like a fool himself. Nice to see him a little more relaxed, even if it was only for a moment or so till he'd gotten flustered.
The game had ended, the match being pretty close. But the more experienced of the two had won and while that might have normally soured the cat's mood, he didn't seem too bothered by it this time around. At least not enough to openly complain about his defeat. He wasn't necessarily a sore loser but he didn't lose very gracefully. He released the joystick as well, turning to face the polite man.
- "Good game-- Ah...um...What's your name? I'm, I'm Kosuke."
The cat continued to grin like the cheshire, clearly amused. Before Kosuke could even consider retracting, he finished the distance of the high-five before finally answering. "Kichiro! But you can just call me Chiro." he nodded, a fan of nicknames. Kosuke was bound to have one himself by the end of this, the feline already trying to come up with a good one in his head. "Better remember the name, cause I'm gonna demand a rematch next time around." he winked playfully. That is, if he could come back here anytime soon. No doubt as soon as he returned, they'd put him on stricter lockdown. He'd have to spend another week or two figuring out how to escape again. But, hey! It was always a new challenge and as odd as it was, he enjoyed it.
"I was definitely right though. You were good at it. Just means I'm gonna have to try harder next time." he continued, seeming a bit calmer now as he cooled down from the gaming high. It would only last so long though. made by CAPTAIN of GANGNAM STYLE

NOTES ono *gives blankie* TAG @doge3 ❀ | The high five completed, he lowered his hand slowly, his expression still lingering in between a childish, giddy grin and an awkward smile. Almost like he couldn't figure out what the best response was so he floundered somewhere in the middle. But seeing the other man grin so much himself helped him to steady his own expression and he smiled a bit wider, head bobbing in a small nod. This wasn't so bad, right...? Video games were the great equalizer. Or...something like that. He made a note to blog about it when he finally made it home. For a brief moment he wondered if he should pull out his cellphone and snap a picture or something as proof because Takehiko would probably never believe him but...No, that was much too forward and pushing his luck any further seemed like a bad idea. He was teetering in a nice, neutral area between his usual complete anxiety and something less nerve wracking for the moment.
"Chiro it is then, um...It's nice to meet you..." He bobbed his head in a nod along with the statement, letting his hand trail along the hem of his scarf absently. He had a hard time keeping his hands still a lot of the time, truly. Listening to the man speak, and hearing the playful enthusiasm in those words, it made him laugh a bit inwardly. Nibbling slightly into his lower lip to keep himself from actually giggling or anything silly like that, he nodded a second time. "Good! That's...That's the only way you can get better, um, right? Practice...and...um...having goals...It keeps you focused..." It was one of the tenants of his programming: always push to learn something new and then practice that and figure out how to use it in different situations. He was rather serious about his work and hobbies, despite outward appearances.
Compliments though, those he wasn't exactly used to. In text, sure, but hearing it directly was...well...He canted his head a fraction and chuckled a bit, "Um, thanks! I do try...I really like games and...um...yeah. But you--you were good too! Was that your first time playing...?"

just your luck - "Chiro it is then, um...It's nice to meet you..."
His little competitive ramblings were cut short by the simple words, the feline urakata nodding in agreement, certainly having no argument there. "Nice to meet you too, man." Indeed. He didn't come across very many humans who were so friendly. Then again, he hasn't run into very many who were so timid either. He couldn't help but wonder if he'd have treated him so kindly if he knew he were a slave. Probably not. Not meaning to insult Kosuke or anything but humans didn't typically respond well to his kind. As far as he knew, it was pretty natural so he had no personal qualms about it if he were to have turned on him should he notice the ears and tail. It was just the order of things, right? Same way he and dog urakata could never get along. Still though, curious as he was, he had no intentions of testing out his theory anytime soon. He was content with things being the way they were. Even if it took extra effort on his part to keep his little secret hidden.
- "Good! That's...That's the only way you can get better, um, right? Practice...and...um...having goals...It keeps you focused..."
A very valid point from his new shy friend. He'd known this to be true for a while now. Frankly, being an amazing escape artist such as himself, it took a lot of practice on his part to excel, especially when the guards would up the security of his cage just to try and keep him from wandering off. Even though it only worked for so long. So naturally, it should apply to all other things, correct? Even video games. Of course, he couldn't help but rely on his own luck at times. Being a black cat with a bad rep, plenty of people think he's all about bad luck. But the truth was, he was actually quite a lucky individual. For the most part, anyway. It was just a good thing he had nine lives.
- "Um, thanks! I do try...I really like games and...um...yeah. But you--you were good too! Was that your first time playing...?"
That didn't surprise him too much. Considering, well, he was at an arcade. And they way he was laughing during the match, yeah it was a pretty safe bet to say he was a bit of a game enthusiast. And he being good? Well he liked to think so, even bragged about it at times, but he wasn't an expert by any means. He just really loved playing games like Kosuke. "First time on this game." he nodded towards the machine. "But I've played a few fighting games before. Older stuff when me and my bro would come here regularly as kids." he chuckled slightly, caught up in those memories for a moment or so. He shook that out of his mind for now though, returning his focus back onto his company.
"You come here often?" he questioned, both out of curiosity and idle chit-chat. He was certain he'd never seen him when he came here regularly years ago but since the huge time gap, there was the possibility. And if he did come her often, he'd make a mental note to visit here again if he ever got the chance to escape once more. Which was inevitable as far as he was concerned. "Just so I know I'll actually be able to get that rematch in the future." he added after a moment or so, deciding it was best to explain his curiosity. That and he wasn't sure timid Kosuke would take such questions without some anxiety. He had enough decency to consider that much about his feelings. "And it will happen" he began with a suggestive tone, "right?" he smirked playfully, tossing an arm over the other's shoulder without his consent. At least he respected his boundaries for a while. made by CAPTAIN of GANGNAM STYLE

NOTES builds pillow fort TAG @doge3 ❀ | It wasn't exactly the same as trying to relax with Takehiko, but being around fellow game fans held a certain comradery that made it a little less tense. There was the natural underlying anxiety that always seemed to cling to him like a second skin...But, well, any progress was good, right? His pale lips pursed into an awkward but friendly smile as he watched his companion. Making new friends, at least out in meat space as it were, was a rare occasion for him as he spent so much time cooped up in his apartment. So he was trying to commit most of it to memory, for positive reinforcement later. That way if he started having a panic attack he could look back onto this meeting and try to find some strength.
"Well, then, you're um--a natural," Or it was beginner's luck, but Kosuke was too polite and too much of an optimist to really say something like that. It just felt...mean. "Oh really?" That meant Chiro was from around here, right? That was even cooler - making a friend that lived near by meant...Ah, not like he was prone to hanging out but that meant there was a chance, right? His older brother would be happy too he was sure. And making Takehiko think of him as less of a 'creepy recluse' was always a plus. "That's cool...I, well, I come here sometimes...When I'm not...um...busy with work..." Which really was true, but also code for 'when I actually decide to go outside'. But he wasn't about to admit that outloud, being a hermit wasn't exactly something to boast about.
A rematch? He smiled a bit and nodded at the idea. "Um...yes, a rematch's definitely necessary...How else while I know if--if your skills have improved--" His response petered off as the other male placed an arm around his shoulders. It was casual contact and likely not a big deal to most people, but it was a sudden invasion of his personal space and...Kosuke wasn't used to someone being so close. He reflexively tensed, flustering some and imitating a fish for a few moments as he tried to figure out what to say or do, mouth opening and shutting a couple times. His fingers curling into his scarf, he finally managed an awkwardly stammered, "Um...Um...R-right..."

just your luck A natural? Sure. He could agree to that. But he himself was convinced he was just a lucky person, despite all the events in his past that might say otherwise. The man he referred to as brother on the other hand, had been much better, seeming to know how to play without having to button mash furiously like he himself did. He'd never been able to beat him. What a sad thought that he might never be able to have the chance to play him again. He hadn't even heard from him since he'd been captured. For all he knew, he was either sold off himself or was dead. Such a depressing mindset but laid-back Chiro didn't seem too bothered by it. At least, he didn't show his feelings towards such dark thoughts. He was just thankful, or rather hopeful, this new guy Kosuke wouldn't have the same sad fate. Surely not. He was human after all, from what he could tell.
- "That's cool...I, well, I come here sometimes...When I'm not...um...busy with work..."
"Same." he decided. Slavery was a form or work, correct? Or maybe just a normal part of who he was. Well, either way, he decided that was a good excuse for why he wasn't here all that often himself. But he figured it was best to not spare those details. He didn't explain what he did for a living so why should he? "It's pretty nice to be able to just get away, you know?" he questioned, not exactly looking for an answer but simply offering him his feelings on the subject. No matter how literal he actually was about the 'get away' part. Sure, slavery wasn't all that bad. Got a home, which was nice if you were lucky, you were assured food, and if you behaved properly, you might get spoiled. But that didn't mean he didn't go for more free choices when they became available. Which was why his frequent escapes to the city were a regular thing.
- "Um...yes, a rematch's definitely necessary...How else while I know if--if your skills have improved--"
The moment he trailed off gathered a satisfied smirk from the feline, sharp canines protruding quite viciously if you paid them any mind. His attempt at intimidating him into acceptance seemed to be working. Of course, he didn't actually mean to come off as serious about it, nor did he plan on it being so effective. But as long as he got what he wanted, he'd be happy. It would only be a shame if he actually managed to scare the shit out of him. He'd swear, it wasn't his intention. He was simply being his usual, playful self. One that Kosuke had better start getting used to, as far as Chiro was concerned. He'd definitely give mr. shy guy some visits when he could. He was pretty fun, if not simply fun messing with.
- "Um...Um...R-right..."
The feline would search his face, looking for any small clue of deciet. Those bright blue eyes seemed darker, colder even for a split second before sparking back to life as he exchanged his sinister smirk for a very happy grin, pleased with his answer. With that in mind, he'd hop off of his poor, frightened prey, clasping his hands together with a nod. "Great! I'm looking forward to it!" he stated, his words quite genuine. Frankly, the cat didn't make much friends. At least mutual ones, anyway. He was a target for hate, his hyperactivity and childishness coming off as quite annoying to most to the point they'd rather push him away or physically force him to scram if necessary. He was positive he wasn't wrong about this one, though. He seemed to be a very honest and nice guy. He'd like to think he was pretty decent at judging a person's character, anyway. Course, he'd been wrong before. made by CAPTAIN of GANGNAM STYLE
