luka He was never particularly fond of the city, the various smells could be very overwhelming for his sensitive nose. For the most part, he'd avoid wandering around the city as much as possible, preferring home or the wilderness where the air was much clearer. But when his partner insisted on taking a walk for who knows what, he could only comply. Not that she'd actually given him a chance to stay home but even if she had, he couldn't. He was trained to be on her side at all times. And though he'd never admit it, he'd feel uncomfortable leaving her alone. She could handle herself but he wouldn't be a very good partner if she allowed her to get hurt. So, with much reluctance, he had followed her out, nose immediately twitching as he was hit with the many surrounding scents. He could pinpoint quite a few smells out there already but tried to not focus on the unnecessary things too much. He'd only give himself a headache if he tried.
Takeo sighed, ears perking as they'd begin their treck down the street. He had no idea where she was going nor did he actually plan to ask, following her obediently and simply hoping she'd tell him if it were necessary. A surprise trip to the vet would be most unappreciated. But it was a bit late in the evening so he hoped he was lucky to avoid such a horrible fate. Course there were plenty of other opportunities, he was sure. She had a bad habit of treating him like he were any common house pet. And though it irked him a bit, he was slowly accepting it. That didn't mean he wouldn't fight if she tried to stick him in another ugly sweater again. He huffed at the thought, finally turning his attention to his master.
"What made you want to go out so suddenly?" he asked with a yawn, unable to help his curiosity. He was actually on the verge of a nap before she'd suggested it. Perhaps they were actually out here for a mission. Of course, he figured he would have known that. She usually was very professional when it came to missions and would tell him right away. Right? Well... She could be a bit unpredictable at times. He'd known her so long yet there were still plenty of things he didn't know about her. But unless it was important for their job, he never really seemed to ask. He was her property, sure, but he looked at it as business. He didn't think it was important to try and get to know her too much, despite how much they relied on each other.
Still though, the lack of actual companionship did nothing to restrain his loyalty to her. This was evidenced by how protective of her he could be, the dog urakata's ears lowering as he glared at a drunken man who was staggering too close to her as they walked pass. He suppressed a growl, the man lucky that he hadn't actually stumbled into her. It was odd how fierce he could be for her when he didn't even seem to like her much at all. He could hardly understand it either but decided not to question it. As far as he was concerned, it was his job to protect her. He only wished she didn't wander out this late during the evening when the bums were about. He'd have to keep on his toes. And he was sure she'd comment on that. |

Ah the fresh city air! Isn't that what people say? The air in this city was far from fresh, as a matter of fact she could imagine a thousand places and things that smelled better than sewage and booze. One would think after ten plus years of being in the same city you would get use to the sights, sounds, and the much less pleasant smells but alas it took a lot to please the raven haired girl. Born and raised in a small mountain village that lacked things like Starbucks and the numerous liquor stores and bars that this city seemed to possess. She couldn't complain to much it was this city that was keeping her with plenty of work with all of those silly urakata running around, as much as she hated the city she loved the work it brought her. Unfortunately it had been a few days since her last real job and because of that she had kept herself locked up in her home with only her loyal puppy Takeo for company. She needed to stretch her legs more than a little and get away from the walls of her house for at least a few hours and thus decided it was time for a walk around the smelly, nasty, people infested city.
Luka was silent for the most part with her hands shoved down in her jacket pockets and her eyes focused forward hardly even acknowledging her partners existence at her side. Most people would be weary of walking around this late but she had nothing to fear, with her partner at her side there was no way she could feel safer! As much as she was trained to see him as disposable -which was easy on the beginning- the two had been together for so long that it was impossible to see him in that light anymore. He had protected her from many things over the years just as she had him, she would never admit it but she was somewhat attached to his floppy ears and bushy tail. " Does it matter why? You know you love it~ What dog doesn't like a good walk. All we need now is a tennis ball and you can go play fetch in the street.", she replied back her accent thick as she instantly began teasing him not once, not twice, but three times. Oh how she loved getting on his nerves and watching his reactions~
" Encase you haven't noticed we haven't really left the house for anything in at least two days. As much as I love the lay day's that is a little much.", she said glancing over at him for a moment finally giving him a serious answer. She was use to working every day and pushing herself as hard as she could possibly go at that, this whole no work sleeping around the house all day just wasn't cutting it anymore. The space in jobs normally occurred after a big take down especially if news spreads fast through the urakata world, they would all go into hiding for a few days then try to make their escape, needless to say Luka did not appreciate this in the least. " But if you don't feel like walking we could always take you to that cute little sweater shop on the corner ahead~ I have been dying to get you into something cute and out of those bland clothes.", she knew he would appreciate the walk a lot more if she threw that out at him.

luka He had to agree with her somewhat. He himself didn't necessarily enjoy being cooped up in the house for so long either. But the house seemed like the lesser of two evils in his mind. Course she had to ruin it by teasing him, his eyes narrowing a bit at the insults. He was only part dog. And he certainly didn't like playing fetch. He wasn't that feral. There was nothing he could really do to convince her that though. She seemed quite adamant on her stance that he was indeed nothing but an animal. He supposed it wasn't far from the truth but he didn't have to appreciate it. "I don't know if I could manage enough slobber for your ideal game of fetch, Luka." he humored, his tone a bit agitated. He didn't like the whole stereotype business but he knew it was better to try to play along. She seemed to feed off his anger. And though he knew that for a fact, sometimes he couldn't help but give her the exact reactions she wanted from him. It was almost always a losing battle.
- "Encase you haven't noticed we haven't really left the house for anything in at least two days. As much as I love the lay day's that is a little much."
He had to give her that he decided, offering her a simple nod in response. He felt he himself was being a bit too lazy as of late. He hadn't really had the chance to train or exercise and if he didn't watch it, would soon fall into the habit of napping when he was bored. He was definitely going to have to work on that. Or else it would bite him in the ass later when they did finally receive a job. She wasn't very gracious when they were hunting, accepting no failure on his part. Actually she wasn't very gracious at all he reconsidered with a small smirk. She might have took offense to that if he'd vocalized his thoughts. But, as if reading his mind, she shot back another tease in the form of a threat, his eyes widening a bit before averting as he shoved his hands into his pockets. "No, no. Walking's good." he quickly commented, certainly more willing to walk around aimlessly rather than deal with such torture, as she no doubt expected. She knew his weaknesses unfortunately and knew how to make him tick. His ears flattened at that fact before he scanned around the area as they continued.
Off the job or not, he was always alert to their surroundings, on the off chance a potential target or even threat might be nearby. He'd made the mistake once to let his guard down and he certainly didn't plan on doing so again. He doubted his master would appreciate it very much herself. There were a few shady people here and there. Thugs, drunks, he was positive he could even smell a drug dealer or two as they passed by alleys. Surprisingly enough, not much urakata's nearby. They were pretty good when it came to covering their tracks when in hiding. But not good enough, he thought. If he were really on their trail, they'd be in serious trouble. He wasn't the expert tracker for nothing. He felt a sense of pride at these thoughts, kinda disappointed he hadn't had the chance to hunt these last couple of days. |

In all honesty Luka had never been one to sit still for long periods of time, even when she was forced to take vacations she still found herself buried deep in the wilderness some where hunting. Like all humans she had her lazy streaks where she wanted to just sit around and stuff her face all day while watching television but that was limited to a day tops, after that she would be squirming to go on a hunt be it a urakata or a poor unsuspecting animal. " You are such a disappointment a good partner would at least humor me and chase after the ball a little bit. You don't even give me that!", she pouted a bit wanting nothing more than a good companion to play with when she got bored like this instead of a grumpy partner with no sense of fun -at least not her brand of fun-. She had contemplated many times going out and getting a real dog in hopes that she would be able to get her obsession of playing with one away from her partner. Alas she hardly had the capabilities to remember to feed her partner -luckily he could do it himself- much less keep a real dog alive!
She continued her walk a genuine smile finding its way to her normally cold features upon hearing him admit that walking was good, she even let a laugh leave her lips which was a rare occurrence. " You know if you would just put your foot down I wouldn't do all these ridiculous things to you~", she said over to him in a challenging tone knowing good and well he would never try to tell her what to do and what not to do especially when it came to him. He was basically doomed to endure her sweater shop adventures and occasional pre-school visits, besides he deserved it sometimes! She had never beat him like some of the other masters have, sure she has raised her hand to him every now and then but nothing hard enough to even leave a bruise there were worse things in this life to him than that~ And little kids with sticky hands just so happened to be one of them.
Her loyalty to her work had been proven many times doing just as she was trained to do by following in her father's footsteps but it was slow times like this that made her want to just go off on her own and take care of things herself. Did she really need permission to go out and hunt? Of course not! But seeing as she had worked so long and so hard to get to where she was today she knew treading lightly and being an obedient dog herself towards her superiors was the smartest thing to do. She would take only a few more steps before knocking her shoulder into his looking over at him for only a moment with a scold about her face, her obvious frustration showing. " Why don't you use that nose and find us something to chase!", she huffed her human abilities practically useless in the city.

luka - "You are such a disappointment a good partner would at least humor me and chase after the ball a little bit. You don't even give me that!"
There was a faint smirk, unable to deny some form of victory in that statement. But the word "disappointment" soured his mood a bit. Love her or not, he always had this sense of duty towards her. He was meant to be the ideal partner and when he failed at any task, no matter how minor, he always felt a bit bothered. But even he wouldn't willingly embarrass himself like that. That was for other urakata, not himself. He thought he was better than the rest. Not because he was a rare breed but because he was stronger and better trained than the rest. Course, regardless of how he felt, if she really did want him to embarrass himself like that, all it took was an order on her part. He couldn't deny her commands, it was ingrained into him not to do so. He at least had to give that to her. She could be pretty cruel sometimes with her teasing but she never seemed to go too far. She had some respect for him, even if it was minimal in comparison to most others. "Sorry." he offered simply, hoping that would be enough to drop that. He wasn't sure he'd want to swallow his pride enough to go that far. He was a dog, sure, but not a pet.
- "You know if you would just put your foot down I wouldn't do all these ridiculous things to you~"
His ears perked at her laughter, a tilt of the head notifying his confusion. He wasn't used to that. It wasn't like she never laughed but it never sounded quite like that before. Frankly, most the time she laughed, especially if she was only with him, usually meant danger was near. Course after she spoke, maybe it was dangerous. Takeo frowned a bit at her words, finding them incredibly cruel. She was challenging him and typically, he was always up for said challenges. But something like that, he couldn't really acomplish, nor did he really want to try. Going against her would be going against everything he trained for. It would be incredibly difficult for him to stand on his own after so many years of learning to do the exact opposite. He relied on her, just as much as she relied on him. He would be quite literally a lost puppy. He groaned at the thought. "But then you wouldn't have someone to order around." he spoke with mock concern. Knowing her, she'd probably just find a new urakata to replace him. And oddly enough, that thought really bothered him the most.
It only took a few more steps till his partner's patience ran dry, Takeo feeling her shoulder bump into his own, that scold of his causing his ears to flatten back at first. It seemed she was ready for a hunt, despite the two technically being off duty. Was he surprised? Not really. She practically lived for the hunt and he had already gotten used to it, being a huge fan himself. That was perhaps one thing they were quite compatible on. He would have willingly been on board if it weren't for their hunting grounds. The city was filled with so many smells, it was easy to lose track. And with his brain filtering through all of them to find just one urakata could leave him with a nasty headache later. But, regardless of how he personally felt, it was useless to fight against it. Especially since he was already on the job. After tracking for so long, it basically became second nature. He couldn't really turn it on. The best he could do was try to ignore it all when he wasn't hunting. And even that was quite difficult. "Working on it." he confirmed flatly, his nose twitching again as he tried to get a good idea of their surroundings.
He had the strongest nose of the Shinkansen as expected of someone of his rank. It hardly took him much effort to track down any scent, the only real issue having been finding one. But even then, it was only a matter of time before he uncovered their tracks. Expecting her to follow, he continued down the street, eyes closed as he relied solely on his nose, trying to uncover anything worth noticing. Urakata had a distinct scent in contrast to humans though varied slightly for each individual breed, he noticed. Sometimes, you could even differentiate between free and mastered urakata, solely because of how filthy free urakata could be. In the city, of course, it would be much more difficult to do so. How he hated the filthy and cramped place.
It wasn't long before Takeo stopped in his tracks, blue eyes opening and a low growl rumbling through his chest. It appeared he caught something though wasn't entirely sure what it was distinctly. They masked their scent pretty well, but not enough it seemed. A runaway, perhaps? "There was something here not too long ago." he explained lowly enough for his partner to hear as he looked down the seemingly abandoned alley way, waiting for her decision as to whether they actually followed or not. He assumed so but he didn't want to get separated should the target be hiding and attempt to make a run for it. She didn't seem to like being left behind he realized after the few chances he had impulsively went after them without her consent. He'd managed to learn his lesson, it seemed. |

Even though the two had been together for quiet a few years now it seemed they were still getting use to each other, sure they had a wonderful partnership but regardless it was still her job to keep him on his toes constantly. Calling him a disappointment was a terrible habit of hers though he would be able to tell instantly when to be worried about it or not, right now it was just to tease should he ever truly disappoint her she would be sure to rub his nose in his faults and break him down. " Looks like you are picking up some manners FINALLY.", said said in reply to him apologizing though she was willing to let things drop for now. Takeo was lucky that she wanted nothing to do with a simple pet urakata or else she would get one that she could REALLY torture him with maybe a nice hippo or a yappy little girl dog urakata to swoon over him. The possibilities were endless.
Her boredom was catching up with her fast, how could it have been so long without a single hunt? She felt like she was going insane! Right about now she would love to be knee deep in snow out in the middle of no where with only Takeo and a good trail to follow preferably something dangerous. She wasn't that lucky, no she would have to settle for whatever her dog's nose could pick up and be happy with the outcome be it a bear urakata or a mouse -yes she had tracked something as worthless as that before-. " Well work faster.", she said back to him her tone snappy the anxiousness obvious as she watched him. For the sake of her sanity he had better pick up something or she was just going to have to go home and drown herself in a bucket of ice cream once again. That was not something she was willing to do! She would drag him out to the woods if that was what it took tonight but hopefully they would have a good city run instead, at least they would come out clean if nothing else.
She followed behind him when he locked onto a scent her mind racing trying to picture just what it could be that they were going after, it mattered not as long as she could get this out of her system for the night. Looking over their surroundings she looked for any signs of what he was smelling, maybe some wet tracks on the concrete or anything that might give her a hint to where they could have gone but as always her luck was thin in the city. " What do you think it is?", she asked ahead her eyes moving from their surroundings to him watching his every move though really she knew he wouldn't get to far ahead of her, she hated it when he did things like that.
After hearing his final words she moved to the alley way quietly taking in their new surroundings not really expecting to find anything, even if they never found it at least they managed to get some good practice in right? She let out a sigh looking over to him for a moment before stepping past him once again looking for any identifying features that would give away their prey. " How old are you thinking this trail is?", she asked before taking a few more steps forward managing to trip herself up when she did a loud crash following her as she hit the ground with a thud catching herself just inches from the ground to keep from falling flat on her face. " Fucking hell!!", she hissed hitting the ground once rather violently before sitting up her cheeks blood red, did she really just mess up? What happened to her own perfection?
--OMG I am so sorry it took so long and still came out like crap >_< --

luka - "Looks like you are picking up some manners FINALLY."
His ears simply flickered at the tone, the dog keeping his eyes ahead. Someone always seemed to comment on his manners. Sure, he had to admit he could be a little moody from time to time. Hate his life and everyone around him, maybe. But he didn't think he had bad manners. He just expressed his negative emotions more frequently than his positives. Actually, the later was quite rare, nowadays. To think he used to be a very sweet puppy. Where had they gone wrong? To be honest, he didn't care too much if his manners weren't exactly the best. It was his obedience that counted, right? He could throw a fit all he wanted but in the end, he'd always obey. He was quite whipped in that sense. But that didn't mean he couldn't complain about it. But even then, he knew when to keep his mouth shut. The Shinkansen weren't known for being very kind towards their urakata. He wouldn't doubt his own partner would put him down without a second thought if she decided it was necessary. Actually, it was safe to say he was expecting it. He'd try his best to please her but deep down, he knew he was nothing too special. He could easily be replaced if he decided to act out of rank. But damn it all, he'd make sure to leave a hell of a mark before his time finally came up. He was going to be the best damn tracker he could possibly be. It was odd how loyal he could be to people he could safely say he despised. But that was just the way the world worked.
He followed the scent, attempting to block out all else as he did so, her words miraculously managing to echo into his mind, receiving a rather hesitant "I'm not sure yet.." Usually, it was very easy to tell. But this particular scent seemed tainted with just about everything else. If he hadn't known any better, he might have thought he'd mistaken the scent for a human. That would be quite embarrassing. He was quite proud of his sniffer's capabilities and such a mistake would leave heavy damage on his reputation, he was sure. But there was no mistaking it. It definitely was not human. While it's particular breed was a mystery, he knew enough to gather he wasn't that far gone. Perhaps it was one of those elusive free urakata. With their attempts to blend in with humans, it wasn't hard to have a little bit of difficulty distinguishing them. Especially if they had been hidden among them long enough. "Might be lucky, though." he offered her in hopes that would be enough to keep her pleased for the time being. Free urakata were quite special. And also made for quite an exciting chase.
- "How old are you thinking this trail is?"
Normally, he could give a very solid response. But given this was the city and things could be a bit tricky here, he'd simply have to offer a rough estimation. "8.. 10 minutes?" he began at first before taking another test at the scent. "Give or take a few." he added. It was difficult to work out with the other contaminating scents, but he was absolutely positive it wasn't much more than that. The scent was still strong, so they couldn't have been too far-
- "Fucking hell!!"
He'd lost his focus, quite surprised by the fall actually. It was extremely rare for miss perfect to ever screw up. Should he have not worried about the consequences, he might have laughed. To be honest, it was amusing when she was the one showing some slack for once, no matter how minor. But he knew better. Besides, he couldn't deny some form of worry. He could be a little protective over his master. It was his duty to protect her after all. He sighed at the thought, ears lowering before he decided to give her fall attention, regardless of whether she'd be pleased or not. He would bet on the later, due to the redness of her face. Definitely a good thing he didn't say anything. She might have lashed out at him. Though he supposed he still wasn't too safe, being a witness to her slight imperfection.
"Are you alright, master?" he offered with slight concern, subjecting to his slavery by referring to her actual title rather than her name or "partner" as usual to add a bit of sincerity to his sympathy. As much as he detested the term. "That looked painful." he admitted, offering a hand to help her up should she be willing to accept his aid. He'd only hoped she wasn't injured. Not because he was worried, alright? There just wasn't much use of an injured partner. She'd only slow him down. That was his story and he was sticking to it.
Much as he wanted to chase after the trail, he'd have to be patient and wait for her. He'd really regret it later if she decided to punish him for his indifference. So it was best to play it safe. As always.

A serge of adrenaline seemed to shoot through Lukas body though she knew she couldn't let it get the best of her in this setting, after all the city was far from the ideal hunting spot. Hunting within the city was worse than being out in the wilderness with shady figures lurking around every corner both Urakata and humans waiting to pounce on their own unsuspecting prey. There was nothing worse than a human that helped these silly little creatures hide, sympathizers to the poor pitiful cause that the beasts seemed to come up with over the years as if slavery was really that bad. She could only hope that if the tables ever turned on human ind that she would be housed and fed for the simple exchange of work. There was nothing she loved more than listening to the pleas of the urakata the pair managed to corner, pleading for their families, their lives, their freedom, all of which fell on deaf ears Luka knew better than to take sympathy on anyone for any reason it was only bound to come back and bite her in the ass.
She could already feel a special kind of blood lust building up in her veins as she thought about the end of the trail when the real fun was to be had. Luka was normally fairly easy on the urakata the pair managed to corner though when it came right down to it all she wanted to do was kill all of them and get it over with. Having gone just a few days without the thrill of the hunt that blood lust she normally managed to suppress was built up enough her sights going red the moment Takeo started in on the trail. For once his words were enough to silence her at least for a few minutes her eyes fixed forward though she couldn't help but look back glance back over her shoulder every now and then almost expecting someone else to be following them, again the city was a terrible place to follow a trail.
With a slight sting on the palm of her hand and the redness in her face she new she messed up, did her feet really betray her like that?! Well then if it was logical enough she would have just had them cut off....fortunately for her she wasn't crazy enough for that just yet. Mentally cursing herself for the fall she seethed as the pain in her hand began to sink in, luckily it was only a scrape but it was nothing she was use to. Looking down at her palm confused for a moment her anger at herself starting to subside up until she heard her partner refer to her as master, something he hardly ever did. While most would look at this as a sign of respect she seen it as him patronizing her in some way or another, of course he wasn't doing this in the least but that wouldn't protect him from what was about to happen.
" SHUT UP TAKEO!", she roared out at him smacking his hand away and pushing herself up from the ground her body tense eyes narrowed at him. HOW DARE HE PATRONIZE HER LIKE THAT! Or as it really was how dare he be so kind to worry about her! Oh she was going to get him back for it believe it or not, even if it meant jerking his pretty ears off his head -or pulling so hard it felt like they were about to come off-. She brushed her clothes off quickly getting as much of the dust off of her pants and shirt as she could manage before trudging forward a few feet and glaring back at him coldly. " Lets go before I decide to hunt you instead.", she snapped her mood for the night obviously shot. Though her words towards him were finished she couldn't help but spew out a string of less than happy Russian words as she moved forward speaking so quickly she wasn't sure she even understood what she was saying.

luka - "SHUT UP TAKEO!"
His brows lifted in minor surprise at the roar of anger, retracting his hand once she'd smacked it away. He might have pressed further, but they weren't that close. She was hurt. The faint smell of blood was enough to give him that much. But she was interested in his pity, obviously, and he wasn't the one to impose, especially with her. He knew very well she was upset, even if it didn't quite make any sense to him. So he knew better than to do much of anything, else there would be worse than a smack to the hand. He sighed at the thought. Sometimes it was hard to work with a partner you could hardly understand. Their relationship was still a huge work in progress though. One that he doubted would actually progress any time soon. He couldn't deny an urge to yell back at her though. Either he's not showing enough manners or he's showing too much. She was just never satisfied and it was no surprise that it worked on his nerves. He'd never dare actually fighting against her though. It would go against everything he's lived for.
- "Lets go before I decide to hunt you instead."
A threat he didn't take lightly. He wouldn't doubt she'd be capable of it. She treated him better than most partners, in the sense of respect at least, but wouldn't hesitate to put him in his place if he acted out of turn. He knew better than to ignore her and obediently caught up to her, visibly keeping some distance to avoid her wrath. He didn't even have to understand Russian to know her words were very angry. What was the point of complaining if no one could understand it? He rolled his eyes at the thought, attempting to brush that incident aside and focus back on the tracking, hoping she'd calm down eventually before she'd spook off whatever they were after. He was not going to take the blame for that.
Onward! Takeo would follow the scent, his ears serving as a detector in their own. Perking as the trail was warm, flattening when it got cold. There would be a few times he trailed off, accidentally getting knocked off by another scent or two but he'd always return back on track. Just the side affects of hunting in the city, aside from the other dangers that came with the territory. But soon, they'd reach a what seemed like the ruins of a warehouse, Takeo pausing in front of the abandoned area, taking a deep sniff just to be sure. "This is the place." he stated simply, whether or not she was done complaining. There was no doubt about it. The scent was strong here, the target obviously occupying the area quite regularly. A hideout of sorts. Seemed ideal. There were almost no other scents to mix up here, meaning they had no worries over anyone showing up. Until the hunting duo decided to visit, of course.
"It's in there." he continued, ears picking up a very faint sound of shuffling deep within. He kept by her side, however, obediently awaiting her decision. Besides, with so much debris and vines keeping whatever was left of the building still standing, it would be both difficult and dangerous to maneuver alone. One wrong move, and the whole place could probably fall apart. He was sure he could navigate just fine, but he couldn't help but doubt her slightly. Of course, if she was confident and ready, he wouldn't stop her. Not like he'd be able to, anyway. |

Oh how she wanted to rip her doggie companion apart right about now proving her own temper even if she didn't outwardly show it. He had nothing to do with the fall that would ruin her entire night however it had to be blame on someone right? There was no way that she could have possibly fell on her own so he had to have a hand in it some how! Maybe he was grudging her and that was why she fell...yes that was it so it was his fault! Well he would just have to be punished later for that, she already have the perfect thing in mind for him and for once it didn't involve a kid or a sweater. The gears in her mind were already turning even in her moment of rage devising the perfect way to make him pay for HIS her mistake. Poor Takeo won't even know what hit him when it is all said and done.
While she would have loved to stand there and scream at him some more she had a feeling their culprit was already on the move from her previous roaring, there was no need for her to risk loosing it completely. The only thing that managed to settle her down to the point she could go on without yelling at him more was the fact that she had a plan for him that would be set into motion soon. Taking a deep breath she settled her nerves and and quietened herself before following after him as quietly as she could manage her eyes glued to the ground now watching each and ever step she took to ensure she didn't slip up for a second time. He was just lucky she was at least a little attached to his dog side or she would have already locked him up and starved him to death or something she could pass off as an accident.
As they arrived in front of what looked like an old warehouse she couldn't help but feel her good mood coming back to her, she was on a hunt and that was all she wanted. Once they caught whoever it was his nose was picking up she would just take out all that pent up aggression out on them even if it meant beating them into a bloody pulp or worse. When he spoke she gritted her teeth suppressing the want or better yet the need to scream out at him, " You had better be sure.", she stated peering into one of the many busted out windows before looking back to him. It did seem like the ideal hiding place for a urakata but she would hate to waste her time and there be nothing inside, oh well even if there weren't that just meant his punishment would be that much worse.
She observed the building taking note of just how rickety it looked and how dangerous it would be for her to venture in hardly worried about the safety of Takeo. " It just had to be in a place like this didn't it.", she huffed debating on if she wanted to try it out and risk loosing the target or just head back and report it to the others. " Well then let's go home. No sense in dying tonight when I have so much in store for you~", she said to him a menacing tone in her voice. " We will let the others know about this place and pursue when we have a bit more help.", with that she turned on her heels and stuffed her hands in her pockets heading back towards the streets that irritated air still hovering around her.

luka He had no idea what was going on in his master's head or what was even coming out of her mouth, understanding very little Russian. But he definetely knew it couldn't have been good. Once she was mad at him, punishments were inevitable, no matter how innocent he was. It was why he hadn't argued when she blamed him, knowing it would be futile. Speaking up would only get her more angry and in turn make the punishment more severe. He'd learned this from experience and though the temptation to speak up against these false accusations were there, he kept quiet to spare his own skin somewhat. He only hoped this hunt would go over well. Maybe then he could at least get out of too much torture. Unlikely, but it was a pleasant thought.
- "You had better be sure."
"Positive." he assured, seeming somewhat offended that she even had any doubts in him. It was quite rare that he was wrong, and even then he always seemed to get right on track. He was trained for hunting from the moment he was born, after all, and become quite an expert. Course, did that mean the urakata was still in there? That on the other hand was debatable. If it had heard them coming, it might have made a run for it. And again, he wasn't going to take the blame for that one. Not that it mattered. If she wanted to blame him, she very well would. She had the right to, of course. And he just had to suck it up and accept it, no matter how unfair it was. To be completely honest, it was nothing new to him. That was simply the way life goes.
- "It just had to be in a place like this didn't it."
It wasn't like he chose for it to be. He sighed at the thought, shoving his hands into his pockets as he patiently waited for her decision. It would definitely be dangerous. He was quite surprised the place hadn't caved in already. It certainly looked on the verge. The pillars that remained looked like dominoes. If one were to be knocked into, the rest would surely fall. And being caught in such an avalanche would definitely hurt, if not be fatal. To be quite honest, after her little tripping incident before, he was partially hopeful she wouldn't decide to continue. Last thing they needed was her falling on her ass again and causing the whole building to fall apart. If not that, her complaining would definitely make it all worth nothing. There were times he really respected Luka and others where he was so annoyed by her presence alone. She was such a confusing human to be lead by. At least his previous master made directions quite clear and allowed the hunts to go more smoothly. That's not to say she was bad either. No, she was a valuable partner when she wanted to be. Much more capable than the old man and liked taking risks which made the thrill of the hunt much more enjoyable. He'd never tell her these things of course. Less she knew, the better he supposed. Whether he wanted to admit it or not though, he worked much better with her for some odd reason.
- "Well then let's go home. No sense in dying tonight when I have so much in store for you~ We will let the others know about this place and pursue when we have a bit more help."
His ears lowered slightly. Whether he was upset by the fact the hunt was now over or that she had something planned already was hard to tell. But it was clear he was disappointed regardless. On the bright side, no one would be dying today. However, that just meant he had to deal with whatever punishment she had in store sooner. He sighed at the thought before nodding, following after her. "Hopefully the 'help' will actually be helpful." he simply stated as they walked. Takeo wasn't the type of person who was interested in help, really. He was really independent, save for Luka of course, and as far as he was concerned, anyone else would only get in the way. They'd slow them down and only make chasing down urakata more difficult.
His silence after that only lasted so long, curiosity getting the better of him. "What exactly do you have planned?" he asked, as if this punishment was just casual conversation. Which wasn't too far from the truth, he supposed. He sounded both worried and exasperated. Some things he could handle, but when she was really angry, she knew how to get under his skin. He could take all sort of physical pain but damage to his pride was much more effective. |

How did she keep getting sucked into situations like this? She wanted to hunt so badly she couldn't stand it but at the same time she wasn't willing to loose her life in a rickety old building or put her partner at risk regardless of how upset she was with him at the moment. No if either of them was going to be killed it would be by something much more epic than some old building that was ready to fall in. She had no time to waste on this anymore willing to leave it up to someone a bit higher up on the food chain than herself, hell who knew maybe the building would collapse on them and that would give them a good promotion right? Go from a simple tracker to a private or something along those lines because of an accident. While unlikely a girl could dream even if it was a fairly dark dream.
Walking away from the scene she let out a scoff knowing good and well that they were the only two that would be able pin point the urakata's position in that building without much trouble. Well Takeo could he was built for this type of work where some of the others were not, his nose was special even if that was about the only special thing about him in her eyes. " They can have fun with that~ I wouldn't go in that building for anything.", she replied to him leading on like this hunt didn't get under her skin when in fact she was raging about this entire thing. A true hunter would never let anything like this stop them! Unfortunately Luka had a bit more sense than most hunters and because of that knew the dangers of going in that building. " Besides unless I let you come they will never be able to safely find whatever is in there before it started some sort of trouble."
She walked silently for a moment finally reaching the road that they had veered from nearly bumping into a drunk as she stepped back onto the pavement. The drunk shot her a hateful look and she returned the favor with a chilling stare before they would both go on their way without a single spoken word. Glancing back over her shoulder she made sure that her partner was close by before turning her attention ahead, at least on the street she didn't have that ever so dangerous trip hazard. Hearing the dogs question she couldn't help but give off a laugh smiling at him ever so sweetly, " Now now my sweet little puppy. If I told you what I was going to do it wouldn't be any fun now would it?", her words were soft and held a sweet and almost comforting tone. " When it happens you will know. Rest assured that it has nothing to do with children or sweaters. No I think its something you NEED."
He was in some deep trouble but he would never in a million years guess just what she was going to do to him. She was normally pretty harsh with her punishments making sure to do something that would make her partner squirm though she had never really brought any harm to him other than a few smacks here and there. Needless to say this punishment was one that would keep on giving for years and years but until she followed through she would have to find something to do to him until then. She walked a couple of more yards in silence before spotting a rather large mud puddle from god knows what seeing as it hadn't really rained in a few good days she couldn't help but smile. Walking over to it she stopped right at its edge looking down at it and then to her partner that once sweet smile turning a bit more malicious. " Come here Takeo I need help getting over this puddle.", The poor dog was about to get muddy one way or another and that meant bath time for him, bath time being a very rough scrub in the tub or a good trip to the groomer.

luka - "They can have fun with that~ I wouldn't go in that building for anything. Besides unless I let you come they will never be able to safely find whatever is in there before it started some sort of trouble."
There was a small snort at this, the male seeming not the least bit convinced by her act. He knew her well enough to know she wasn't pleased with this either. She was like him in that regard, a need for hunting. It just seemed wrong to stop after going through the effort of finding the prey. But, regardless of how they both felt. It was indeed dangerous. Of course, he was still convinced it would be bad, if not worse with others. They were incompetent. He was quite convinced only he and Luka could ever get the job done right. Whether that was true feelings towards the matter or him simply being trained to be ever loyal to her was uncertain. But the fact was, he wasn't interested, even if promotions were in his master's sights.
They walked along, reaching the familiar place with the strong scent of alcohol, the dog glaring at the drunk again but luckily, they didn't have to deal with him either. Lucky for him, rather. He was sure Luka was at the point she'd go off on anybody. She kept such a calm face but the animal in him could sense something was off and he didn't particularly like it.
- "Now now my sweet little puppy. If I told you what I was going to do it wouldn't be any fun now would it? When it happens you will know. Rest assured that it has nothing to do with children or sweaters. No I think its something you NEED."
That smile nor were her words by any means comforting, rather having the opposite effect on him. It might have not been fun but he would have appreciated knowing what would happen so he could prepare. But, of course, that couldn't be that easy. Not with her. Strangely enough though, he found himself somewhat relieved by the lack of children or sweaters in his near future. What he needed however? He couldn't figure it out and this uncertainty made him groan. "Looking forward to it." he replied flatly, his sarcasm pretty clear. This was the worst part of punishments, being tortured slowly by anticipation. He didn't know when or how it'd happen. It was just going to happen. He sighed at the thought before his ears perked as she stopped, that smile of hers causing his ears to flatten once more.
- "Come here Takeo I need help getting over this puddle."
Takeo tilt his head, expression appearing quite skeptical. This smelled fishy and the hunting dog had enough wits to tell something was up. "Really?" he questioned, just to be sure he hadn't just been hearing things. Despite his better judgement, however, he approached, examining the large puddle. "Why not just walk around?" he continued. He knew she was planning something. He just didn't think it would be something so childish. |
