Thus whenever it happened it always felt so bizarre to the hummingbird. But it wasn't like he was completely free of restraint, as the collar that marked him as belonging to Sin Kanya still clung tight to his neck. He had been wearing such things for so long though that the it would have been even stranger for leather band to not be there. His fingers idly ran over the edge of it, tracing over the shape as he stepped out onto the sidewalk, leaving the club behind him.
Master was busy with meetings today and so he had to go out alone and pick up some items that the man wished to have at home. Alejandro was careful to both keep the shopping list fresh in his mind as well as a physical copy in the pocket of his loose slacks. Since he was going shopping, he had been given the privilege of choosing his own clothing, which meant he was casually dressed in attire that gave him plenty of freedom in movement. He was still well-kept, of course, but his wings needed plenty of space and he just didn't like wearing tight things when he could get away from it.
His head cocked to the side in a quizzical manner as he paused in the center of the sidewalk. Ah, which store would be best to retrieve those items for Master? Hmm. He had better think, and quick, lest the younger man become angry with him. Nothing was worse than upsetting Master.
Distantly, it occurred to him that with his brief "freedom", he could try to make a run for it. . .But, no...That hadn't ended well for him in the past, he wasn't about to hazard another chance. Life in captivity was better than being dead...You couldn't exactly savor your freedom if you were no longer breathing, right? The hummingbird let out a low sigh, his wings furled loosely against his back as he set out to take care of his given tasks.

Freedom at last! Well not really but that was how Alexia felt at this point having only just recently been purchased for what was really the first time. Her master had sent her out into the world to fetch a few things knowing good and well she was more than willing to make a run for it. Today however she had to be good or she would never see her new collection of shinnies again! She would play along with her so called masters games until she could get her precious horde some place safe and out of harms way even it it meant running pointless errands with a list she couldn't even read, maybe if she brought him back enough packs of hotdogs and trail mix he would learn his lesson. " All of these stores look the same... None of them have hotdogs. ", she pouted quietly to herself as she moved down the sidewalk eyes fixed down on her list trying to make out what all the scribbles were.
Things seemed backwards to her now seeing as she was someones property instead of her own person like she was so use to, having spent most of her life a free urakata it was hard to adjust to this new life. Though she had no plans on staying in this life of servitude long she figured it was best to play the game and take her time with plans rather than jump the gun and try to run. " Hot dogs hot dogs hot dogs....", she said to herself over and over trying to keep her mind on track with what she was set out to do but before long something very pretty caught her eye causing her to turn on her heels and start walking in the opposite direction. It was either a very beautiful woman or an equally beautiful man, a bird urakata with hair that she wanted to drown herself in the light hitting it just enough to draw the zebra finch girl in.
She moved a bit faster down the sidewalk trying to catch up to him until she was right up on him reaching her hand out to touch his hair but quickly drawing it back and moving up beside him instead. He was a giant compared to her Alexia actually having to tilt her head back a bit to look up at him with a bright smile, " I really like your hair~ How do you keep it so shinny?", random question from a random stranger though Alexia seen no harm in it. Though if the man knew that she was thinking of ways to get every shinny hair off of his pretty little head he might think she was some sort of freak~ That would be something she would keep to herself for now though.

It wasn't like he was the most familiar with these things, being a slave he was cooped up indoors most of the time. But he knew if he dawdled in uncertainty for too long it would end badly for him. It was never a good idea to keep Master waiting. He had decided to try one of the nearby convenience stores, and had taken a step forward to continue on his way, when the sound of nearby movement caught his attention. Soft footsteps drew nearer to him and he pivoted slightly, head cocked.
The sight that greeted him threw him off guard for a few moments, as his attention immediately gravitated to the girl's wings. They were so tiny and delicate and white that seeing the them tugged at distant memories he had tried desperately to bury. Such recollections felt like lifetimes away by now, even if he was only thirty and thus fairly young compared to how long urakata could live. Still...His gaze narrowed slightly, the look not unkind, just thoughtful, before he blinked once and glanced up to the young lady's face.
"Hello," He stated, it was customary to be polite after all, Master liked a well-mannered slave. A small smile crept onto his tanned lips. It was a rare occurrence for him to run into another bird urakata, he hadn't seen very many since being sold away from the facility he had been hatched in. So he supposed it couldn't hurt to stop a while and talk. He just had to make sure not to stay too long. "It's important to my Master that I look my best, so I use specific shampoo," He explained with a small shrug. "Are you out on errands as well?"

Alexia was normally very shy when it came to meeting new people especially other urakata but for some reason or another when she managed to encounter another bird urakata she managed to come out of her shell a bit. This man was different from most bird urakata she could already tell it! She felt drawn to him for some reason, maybe it was his beautiful shinny hair or maybe it was the fact he was the first bird she had encountered in a few months regardless great things were bound to come from this. Either that or he was going to turn out to be a jerk like all the others. Maybe he could help her find the hot dogs and trail mix that weren't on the list!
When he spoke to her for the first time she was a bit surprised that he greeted her as friendly as he did having grown use to the cold words and snappy remarks from her own kind over the past few days not to mention the terrible remarks from the few humans she had encountered. She couldn't help but smile a bit more though she could hardly stand to look up at the massive man instead her eyes going back to his hair her hands itching to just grab a clump of it and feel. Her hand moved up to her own hair feeling a few strands of it in hand realizing right off her hair would never be like that, after all male birds were suppose to be prettier than the females right? " Specific shampoo...really? That's pretty neat~ You look very pretty.", she said up to him eyes wandering to see if he had any other shinnies on his person though anything away from his hands would require her to climb up him to get too.
" Yeah my person sent me out for some hot dogs and trail mix~ I think...Pretty sure! Thats what humans like afterall.", she said with a shrug of her shoulders referring to her master as a person rather than a master to avoid feeling like property. She looked down at her list one last time before back up at him her hands still itching it at least pet him, it was killing her on the inside! She knew she couldn't take him home with her and store him back some place as much as she wanted to! " If you are looking for stuff too maybe we could go together~ It's not every day I get to talk to another bird after all!", she suggested before realizing she hadn't even introduced herself yet. " My name is Alexia by the way."

Much of the time he was at his Master's side...and well...It wasn't like the man was pleasant a lot of the time. Sure, he was rewarded now and then for good behavior but he was far more accustomed to the human's harsh whims than he was any kindness. So her enthusiastic responses earned a wider smile from the hummingbird. There was something endearing about her height too, compared to him she was rather small. Listening to her speak, he nodded once. "Indeed. Master is very specific in his grooming procedures," Here he paused, his wings fluttering slightly, and his fingers wiggled slightly with the urge he had to preen them. It wasn't often he was under the scrutiny of another avian.
"Hot dogs and trail mix?" Well, he had had a few odd owners over the years so he supposed it wasn't too strange. Urakata were used for all manner of things, so really, being sent to pick up random munchies had to be one of the nicest fates he could think of. "Sure, we can go together," Having company along for the trip was rather appealing, especially due to his lack of socialization with people outside of Master or those at the club the man ran. The club didn't exactly attract the nicest individuals. "I haven't seen another bird in quite some time either. It's rather nice." This he admitted with a little amused glint in his eye. He had missed other avians. Naturally he sympathized with other species just as well but there was something about fellow birds that he bonded with on another level.
"I'm Alejandro," He introduced with a small bow of his head before straightening his posture. "It's nice to meet you Alexia. Shall we? I was about to try that store there," He pointed out the sign.

Alexia's eyes moved from his beautiful hair to his equally beautiful wings watching as hey fluttered for a brief moment, she admired them in silence her own wings shifting ever so slightly at the sight. To her his wings were perfectly flawless without so much as a feather out of place, in truth he was a perfect example of what a bird urakata should be. Alexia on the other hand had a beautiful set of wings though they were much to small for her age unable to use them for anything other than looks after a terrible incident in the past. " You are so lucky you just look perfect! Can you fly?", she asked with a bit of subtle excitement in her voice. She could already feel a certain attachment building up for her regardless of if she knew him or not, the fact he was an avian was enough for her and like they say birds of a feather flock together right?
" Well not really hotdogs and trail mix but if I was a human that would be what I would want so that is what she is going to get.", she stated with little shame to her words, she knew she would be smothering herself in the trail mix and her unfortunate master could live off of hotdogs for a while. It was no skin off her nose if they didn't eat at all. She was beyond giddy when he agreed that they could go shopping together her smile never fading even in the slightest. " It is nice to be able to talk to someone that understands, its not like a dog urakata or a human really knows what goes through our heads even though they think they do.", she said up to him having so many questions stored up in her head that she wanted to ask him but at the same time she didn't want to scare him off with a bombardment.
She was so happy she could hardly contain herself! Finally she was able to have a conversation with someone that wasn't about to eat her soul for talking to them, he had no idea how much he was helping her just by being friendly. She nodded and began to set her body in motion towards the sign he pointed at hardly interested in shopping at this point to caught up in everything about him to really care, " Do you like your master pretty good? Not to pry or anything, I am still learning all this slave stuff."

Really. He couldn't help himself. It wasn't like he often got to relax, as he was always on his best behavior around his Master. But now...Well, it wasn't like he was being disobedient, right? He was still being as polite as ever, and in fact he was helping someone else, so that was good, right? Perhaps he could spin it as networking, maybe Alexia's master would like to visit Sin's club...But he would work it out a little later. Right now the other bird was speaking to him and it was rude to leave her questions hanging. Blinking once, he let out a quiet chuckle at her enthusiasm. "Thank you. I'm glad you think so. I do try my best to look good, it pleases Master," Sure, maybe he did get a little pride from looking good as well but...Lately everything was motivated around pleasing the man that owned him. It was vital to his survival.
"As a matter of fact, I can fly. Can you?" Her wings were rather small, but birds could be rather surprising he knew. He didn't weigh nearly as much as he looked thanks to hollow bones, which made it easier for him to fly. So who knew with his new acquaintance. Taking in how she spoke of her master, he fell quiet for some time. That was a bit...He wasn't sure how well that would go over. For her sake, she hoped that her master was fairly relaxed. Alejandro had heard stories that there were gentler masters out there, a rare species of those who didn't have such strict mannerisms...But he had yet to be owned by anyone like that. "If you're certain," Is what he finally decided on with a small bob of his head, long hair swaying. After all, he didn't know anything about her master, so perhaps she was right on the mark.
"It is. They don't "get it" the same way we do," Mused the hummingbird. Ah, solidarity. It was a nice sensation. They began walking and though it was such a simple arrangement it gave off a vague sense of deja vu. Alexia's presence tugged at old memories from his past. The avian was not yet certain what to do or how to parse that train of thought currently however, so for the moment he shrugged it off...Opting instead to focus on his new acquaintance and her questions. Ah, Master. "Master Sin is a strict man, but he treats me well," A little white lie, that, but it wasn't like he could be direct about it. What if someone overheard and told Master? The tail-end of her statement caught his attention and he arched a brow. "Are you new to this...situation?" He wasn't sure how to word it, but he supposed it made sense - she did look pretty young.

This run in was meant to be~ For some reason or another his personality was drawing her in making her want to talk to him when normally she would shy away from people she didn't know. The fact he was a bird gave her some of that solace that she needed in order to speak to him, after all how would someone like her ever be able to approach someone like him? If bird urakata had royalty his breed, the hummingbird, would be amongst them surely. She was just a lowly finch nothing special or colorful for that matter she considered herself just one step above a pigeon, not that pigeons were bad! They were just odd odd people from the few that she had ran into over the years. She took note of how much it seemed he enjoyed pleasing his master, were the emotions true? She didn't know but he was obviously doing something right for his master to want him to look so fabulous so she had to take notes and maybe mimic some of his actions when she returned home.
She wasn't the least bit surprised to hear that he could fly, most of their kind could unless they had experienced some sort of trauma like she had. Needless to say she was a bit jealous of this fact knowing she would never experience the flight he could but it was nothing that would cause her to treat him any different. " That is so cool! I bet it looks amazing~ I never seen a hummingbird urakata fly before.", she replied at first imagining just how fast his wings would have to go to keep him in the air. " No I can't fly unfortunately but I always wanted to! I had a bad run in with a human when I was a kid they tried to cut my wings off and I guess it stunted their growth or something.", she didnt sound the least bit disappointed by it, all of that had worn off over the years. She knew she would never fly and even though it was something every bird looked forward to in their life it didn't bother her much anymore.
Alexia was happy to hear that he thought the same way she did, birds were a delicate thing and most people just didn't get that or their way of thinking she couldn't help but wonder if he had some of the same obsessions as she did she would save that question for later though. His master sounded amazing from the way Ale had spoken of him so far, then again it could all be a front regardless she just hoped that her own master would end up being the same way. " Maybe my master will be like that~ Yours sounds like a good human.", she mused her eyes moving to the ground watching her steps to ensure she didnt trip over anything and make herself out to look like a fool. Hearing his question she didn't have to think long on it before she would answer, " Yeah I have lived in the city since I was a kid. Managed to escape when they first brought me to this country and lived a free life until just a few days ago. I managed to get myself caught going after food.", she gave a small laugh before looking back to him, " What about you? How long ago did you get caught?"

He was considering her words. Despite the lack of disturbance at her situation, he still felt a strange fluttering akin to sadness for her. That a bird urakata wouldn't be able to fly...Well, that just seemed wrong. The fact that someone had been cruel enough to try to take her wings from her...Alejandro wasn't surprised by that, what with the cruelty of humans he had experienced over his life--but it was still tragic. A small frown settled across his tan lips as he contemplated. A soft rumble reverberated from his deep within his chest, his wings giving an absent flutter. "I haven't tried carrying anyone in a long time, but perhaps we could try sometime if Master allows me a leisure day. A fellow bird should experience flight."
Sure, it wouldn't be the same as Alexia herself flying, but he simply could not resist offering. To not at least try seemed like some sort of travesty. And she was so small, he was sure she'd be rather light and well...Those pretty white wings deserved to feel the wind in their feathers, even if it wouldn't be from flapping themselves. Head tilted, he let his frown curl back upwards into a smile. That was a nice thought indeed, hopefully he could manage to convince Master to give him free time soon.
Hearing her commentary regarding his Master, he inhaled a bit sharply and bit his tongue. For her sake he hoped her master was not like Sin. But he wouldn't say that out loud. He was an obedient servant now, he had appearances to maintain. Instead, he decided to focus on the rest of her commentary. It was less of a mine field to deal with. "I see," Part of him wanted to say that he was sorry that she had gotten captured, freedom must have been nice...But again, he found himself holding his tongue. "I was never caught, I was hatched into this situation," His broad shoulders rose and fell in a casual shrug. The fact that it was so easy for him to pretend like he didn't care... "But I do my best."

Alexia stayed close to the larger mans side hardly considering him a stranger anymore and because of that she kept very little distance between them. Right about now she wanted to just wrap herself around her newly found friends arm and cling until she was forced to let go. Thankfully for both of them she had a bit more self discipline than that....atl east for now. Glancing back at his wings when they gave a flutter she would soon come alive with excitement having to suppress the need to jump up and down squealing like a kid, " Do you mean it? Really?!", she started her words running together for a brief moment the bird soon calming herself to the best of her abilities. " I mean if your master will let you have a fun day.", she added quickly though the excitement was still fairly obvious in her voice.
To Alexia this was the next best thing to her flying herself, last time she was up in the air she was locked up in a cage in the cargo hold of a plane it wasn't exactly pleasant. If he hadn't won her over yet he sure as hell had now all she wanted to do was pounce him and give him a hug but once again she held off for now even though she was aching for it. He was nothing like the other birds that she had ran into none of them had ever offered her something as precious as flight then again none of them were hardly big enough to pull something like that off either.
He was hatched into a slaves life? How heartbreaking was that? She felt her heart fall to the pit of her stomach and a sudden burst of sadness seemed to overtake her entire body, even if he seemed so nonchalant about his situation she couldn't help but feel her own sadness for him. She was born free and practically lived her entire life free with the exception of a few weeks many years ago and the few days she had been in the possession of a human now she knew what it was like to be free and live the life most Urakata could only dream of. He never even got to experience a fraction of what she did in her life even though he seemed like one person that really deserved it, she let out a sniffle and without another word she would move and latch herself onto him hugging him gently from the side. " I am sorry that happened to you...You seem like such a nice person you deserve some sort of freedom."

She was so young and full of energy and that tugged at something within him, some strange desire to protect that had never left him completely despite years and years spent in servitude. Always buried yet never completely gone, it had helped him at times with certain owners, and flared up further when he made friends he was attached to. He had just met Alexia though, which made the situation a little strange...It likely had to do with that vague sense of deja vu he felt when he looked at her. Thinking too deeply on it likely wouldn't end well, so again he pulled his mind away from that train of thought. Instead, he shifted his attention back to the smaller avian, resisting the urge to reach out and ruffle her hair.
"I wouldn't have offered if I hadn't meant it," this he commented with a small, certain nod, long bangs swaying, "I shall do my best to be on good behavior so that Master might give me a leisure day as soon as possible." Perhaps Sin would be in a good mood and it'd happen sooner rather than later. To think how long Alexia had gone without experiencing flight really nagged at him and he wanted to help her. If he had trusted himself enough not to get caught up in the experience, he would've insisted on it right now. But dawdling too long would just get him in trouble and as much as he wanted to help his new friend...He was also very, very wary of punishment.
As he was suddenly hugged, he was taken a little off guard, but after a moment, he curled one toned arm about her. His other hand came up and he gently ruffled her hair, almost in a brotherly fashion really, and he put on his best reassuring smile and comforting vocal tone. "Don't be sad for me. It's all right. I'm fine. Truly." Ah, little white lies, so useful at times. He didn't like the idea of being dishonest to someone like Alexia, but being straightforward about his life story wasn't exactly an option either.

The two were already turning out to be great friends after only a few minutes of interacting with each other and while it mostly likely had to do with the fact they were both birds she couldn't help but think there was more to it than just that. She was a firm believer in the whole reason for everything to happen maybe he needed her? Or maybe she needed him and just didn't know it yet. One way or another she was sure when fate was ready to reveal itself she would understand things a bit better but for now she was just happy to have a new friend or her first real friend for that matter. He had already offered to take her up into the sky the one place she always dreamed of going not only that but he seemed like a truly compassionate person, it still astounded her that he had been a slave all his life. How did he ever manage to keep his sanity?
She couldn't wait for her day in the sky with him it would be amazing! She could already feel the wind in her wings the white feathered appendages shifting ever so slightly at the thought. " It is going to be so much fun! I can't wait!", while normally she wouldn't take things strangers said to her to heart she couldn't help but feel like this was really going to happen. He wouldn't let her down she just new it! Hopefully his master would be nice and let him have that one day so they could spend it up in the sky like real birds should, " Thank you so much! I will have to do something for you one day~."
She felt little reassurance in his words feeling his hand ruffle at the top of her head causing her to look up some forcing a smile for not only him but for herself as well. As much as she wanted to stay attached to his side she would let him go after a moment and bring her hands up to pat her hair right back into place after his touch. For now she would pretend to believe him though she knew there was no way he could be fine with the life he was forced to live, how could he be? " It's still not fair.", she muttered up to him before deciding it was time for a nice change of subject before she could even open her mouth to speak however a gasp left her mouth and she would run forward a bit into the store, " Trail mix!", she said before practically diving forward and grabbing as many bags as could fit in her arms. " It's my favorite snack~ What about you? Do you like trail mix?"

He didn't mind, positive physical attention had been rather rare in his life, and so something like this was...Well, it was rather pleasant. A smile lingered on his tanned lips as he peered down at her, in all of her youthful exuberance, and he squeezed her gently to his taller frame before hesitantly releasing her. "It will be a day to remember, indeed," This he mused with a throaty hum of contentment. Just seeing her excited made him happy and...It warmed his heart. At her comment about repaying him, he shook his head, long green hair swaying, "It's simply the right and decent thing to do. You're a bird, you should be allowed to fly," An edge of a serious tone entered his voice as he spoke then...Alexia had a full life in front of her, she needed those good experiences.
Some birds never got to grow up to her age.
A small huff escaped him as he forced those thoughts back, masking them behind a friendly smile. What confusing feelings -- they'd have to be dealt with later. Right now, he needed to focus. If he got too wrapped up in what things should be instead of the reality of the world. . .Who knew what would happen? He didn't want history to repeat itself. It's not, He wanted to agree with her, but bit it back. What if that was considered speaking against Master? Ah. So much to worry about. So he simply filed it away, along with the rest of hidden feelings and desires...To sink into the depths of his mind and be buried by the facade that was his day to day life.
"Trail mix?" Echoed the avian, an amused smile creeping onto his features as he watched her snatch up the bag. "Hm. I don't think I've it before. But I like nuts and sweets so..."

sorry it took so long!
| Change I won’t be bent and dragged along I want to stay honest to how I feel now For the first time in what seemed like years she didn't jerk away in fear from the touch of another, as a mater of fact she felt no fear at all around him if anything she felt solace. This peace of mind was all so new to her but at the same time it felt natural like this is how things were suppose to be. She knew better than to get to used to these feelings as this could very well be the last time she ever saw him or feel this way for that matter but for the time being she would let her feelings get the better of her. Smiling sweetly she was so happy to finally have that hug out of her system her hands no longer aching to touch him and his shiny hair -which was probably a good thing-. His words were sweet and true as a bird she should be allowed to fly even if it was something she would never accomplish on her own, she had that to look forward to though thanks to him.
He didn't know it but he was giving her a kind of hope no one else had ever offered her before, all of this coming from someone she had only known for a few minutes. She couldn't help but wonder so much about him and his situation as a slave, how did he ever cope with it? Seeing as he was born into something as terrible with this she couldn't comprehend just how broken he had to be even if he didn't seem it. She was only just starting to experience this terrible life and while she landed with a woman who was a little more full of herself than Alexia liked she actually had a fairly easy life treated more as a doll than a slave. Maybe that was how his master was...he would make a very pretty doll~
An audible gasp left her lips when he stated he never had trail mix before, eyes going wide for a moment she actually felt as if her heart was trying to stop in her chest. He had never experienced the wonders of trail mix?! HOW DID HE LIVE THIS LONG WITHOUT IT?! " What?! Never? Never ever?!", she was completely dumbfounded hardly able to compose herself after hearing those words. Without any hesitation she broke open a bag of what could be classified as drugs for her, she was an addict there was no denying it, pouring some of the mixture of nuts, raisins, and chocolate candies in her hand and straight into her mouth from there. " Here have some! You have to try it I promise it will be the best thing you ever eat in your life.", she said up to him offering the bag of treats to him with a smile.

It likely had to do with a variety of factors, not even including the vague sense of deja vu he experienced around her. But he wasn't going to question it, in his life he had learned it was unwise to look a gift horse in the mouth. Simply smile and nod and be thankful for the opportunities one was given. It could always be much, much worse than it was currently. Master was busy with business, and presumably distracted, and thus he had time to relax a fraction and bask in the presence of the young finch. Sometimes fate was kind to give him these sorts of experiences. It helped balance out the bad he had endured, even if only by a small amount. Idly his attention scanned over the surrounding aisles for a moment before he glanced back to Alexia. . .
And promptly stared. Her reaction was not something he had expected at all, and thus his response was instinctively reflexive. A deep bout of laughter rumbled from him, a series of chuckle as his tanned lips spread into a genuine smile. What was that snack to her, like crack or something? Better a treat than some drugs though, he supposed. She tore into the back like a druggie looking for a score, but he couldn't really judge her for it. It was so childish and adorable in a way he simply shrugged it off. There was the worry that they might get in trouble for this...But they were intending to pay for it, so it'd be okay, right? Nothing to fret over. "You must really like that stuff," Thank you, captain obvious Alejandro.
When offered the bag, he gave her a little smile and extended one hand. Dipping his fingers into the container of goodies, he pulled out a small handful of nuts, raisins and candies. He eyed them for a moment before popping a couple bits into his mouth, chewing thoughtfully. It was rather good, he could see why she was so enthused about it. "This is pretty good," He acknowledged with a small nod after he had swallowed, before popping a few more nuts into his mouth.
