What Doesn't Kill Me
Makes Me Feel Alive!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Maybe, just maybe, it was all in Feral's head. One being the fact that he really has no idea where in the seven hell's he currently was and secondly, well, things went from good to bad in under and hour. He had been roaming around on the main strip outside in downtown all bloody and broken. He really didn't see the problem of roaming while bleeding but apparently everyone else did. Strange. The next bit of course was some stranger guy demanding he needed to go see a doctor before he bleed all over the sidewalk. Well, Feral didn't think he needed too but passing out on the guy probably wasn't in Feral's best interest. So sad but so true. Which brought about the bad parts. Feral had woken up during his check up and was in a rather nice hospital room. It was clean, white, sterile and over all lovely. Heck, people where even nice to him. They were so nice in fact he thought they might of been on drugs or he really did hit his head far too high. The illusion though was soon broken when one nurse had discovered that Feral wasn't human. Because well, let's be honest with one another. When did a human ever have a tail and when did a human have abnormally large cuspids? The answer, never. Having found out himself that he wasn't human wasn't that big of a shock to him. He figured something wasn't right to begin with. He took it in stride but having been suddenly whisked out of the fancy room and placed into a new one that looked less then sterile, ugly, and possibly infested with termites. It was less appealing. Luckily, he had way too much head trauma going on to stay awake for much longer and the bear past out for a second time. On his second awaking, he found himself in a hospital bed with rather warm blankets. What he didn't like was the fact his head was bandaged, his ribs felt awfully funny and it wasn't too easy to breath. Hell, his knee kinda hurt and what in God's name was attached to him? Looking down at his exposed chest, that he didn't care for, he spotted some wires that were hooked up to a machine and an odd tub in his arm. Nope! Nope, Feral was having none of that and wanted a goddman shirt. Sitting up, he pulled the IV out of his arm and everything else off as well. He was smart enough to leave the bandages on though. Rotating, he slid of the bed and glanced around the room. Mmm, there was a window. Getting up, he moved to it and popped it open and looked down. Oh, he wasn't getting out of here by window that was for sure. A two story drop did not sound like a particularly good adventure. Mmm, now what should he do? At least the painkills made him feel semi great but the situation he was in didn't. All together, this meant that his only exit was the front door. |
What was with his life recently? If he wasn't saving a urakata, he was playing with a civilian. It seemed that he was getting soft and that urked him to no end. Then, to top it all, he'd been out on patrol when a passerby came up and told him of a bloody man he saw walking down the street. Ajax was going to write it off as someone playing around but then he saw the man himself. He'd obviously been in some kind of accident so Ajax suggested he go to the hospital, around where he promptly fainted.
So, Ajax cursed his fate, threw the guy over his shoulder and took him to the nearest hospital. The guy was heavy but eventually, he got him through the doors and dropped him in a waiting hospital bed. He waited in the lobby to see what the man's condition was and to see where he had gotten such severe wounds when a nurse appeared and revealed that the man was an urakata.
He immediately regretted taking the guy here. If he had known, he'd have taken him straight to the auction house to have them deal with his wounds. Urakata didn't get great treatment here. The nurse told him he had been moved to a more suitable room to which he agreed. Now, more than ever, Ajax needed to interrogate the creature. Find out where his master was and why he had been found wandering around bloody.
With the urakata moved to another room, Ajax took it upon himself to do the guard duty. He set up a chair outside of the door and lounged there, with his sword in his lap so he could sit comfortably. He knew eventually the guy would awake and decide that he needed to escape, which is why the urakata rooms were usually high up, some didn't even have windows.
Ajax was sitting there for awhile when he heard shuffling inside the room. He eyed the nurse not far away behind a counter who got up and looked at him, confirming that the camera in the room was showing he had awaken. He huffed in frustration and stood, holding his sword to rest on his shoulder as he opened the door.
The guy was up and about. Ajax couldn't help but be impressed by the guy's strength. He'd been really beat up and yet, here he was trying to escape. His grin was smug as he looked at him, prepared for a fight.
"Looking for something, Mr. Bear?"
What Doesn't Kill Me
Makes Me Feel Alive!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The bear stood at the window having a great debate with himself. What where his chances of going out this window and getting to the ground unharmed in his current condition. His conclusion, he would end up in further amounts of pain or death. Probably death. That didn't settle well with the twenty-five year old. Pulling back from the open window he drummed his fingers on the window cell in thought. He supposed he could just walk out. What was the worst that could happen? At the moment he heard the door open and a voice speak to him. Turning around, the bear took a few steps forward as he looked at the fella with some interest. Ah, wasn't this the guy he past out on? Yep, from the looks it was and he didn't at all seemed to thrilled to have to be dealing with Feral either. Sucks for him. Feral looked at the man oddly at being addressed as Mr. Bear. Sure, he knew he had big feet and hands but that was a bit uncalled for now wasn't it? But it did explain to why he had a tail and was called an interesting name or two. "Mr. Bear, I don't think that's my name." He was pretty sure that assumption was correct. He couldn't remember jack shit but he did recall a little about himself. Mostly his name and that was it. Everything else was a bit on the foggy side. "Sounds a bit racist, too." He twitched slightly in pain. Who would of thought that hearing your own voice would cause you a slight ringing to the ears? The bear stood his ground and took this moment to automatically size up the man in the room. Feral didn't know he was doing it as it just came natural to him. He was of a decent height, muscular, and could probably hold his own in a fight. The look on his face said clearly second that motion. But the sword--wait why in the sam hills did he have a sword on him? Well, at least it wasn't pointed at him because if it would, he was certain bad things would happen. "Nice sword." He pointed out dully while lifting a finger to gesture at it. "Over compensating for something?" He had to of been with how he was carrying it because it really wasn't that intimidating to Feral at that point in time. Still, he didn't care the a weapon to be in the same room as him. It also meant that it could be used against him. He got the feeling that this guy who was blocking his way out wasn't going to let him just wonder off and leave. Feral did have to buy his own after all but he could always take a rain check on that right? Still, that didn't account for a sword to be present. "Or, is that to keep me from leaving before my checkout time?" |

Ajax raised an eyebrow at the guy. Of course Mr. Bear wasn't his name. Was he serious? Maybe he hit his head too hard, or not hard enough actually. At the racist statement he laughed. "Racist? Please, urakatas aren't a race. That's like calling a male deer a buck. It's what you are, nothing racist about it."
The guy visibly flinched. He wondered briefly if it was his words but quickly assumed otherwise. His head was probably pounding. Even though that was probably the case, ajax recognized the look in his eyes. He was sizing him up. this amused Ajax more than insulted him. The guy was only slightly taller than himself which didn't intimidate Ajax in the slightest. He'd taken on many guys and urakata that were bigger than himself.
His smile broadened at the sword comment. "Thanks and it's really to compensate for my opponent. Sadly, it seems necessary with you. You're just too desolate to realize it."
At his next comment, Ajax turned his head to one side slightly. His green eyes focused solely on his target. The smile on his lips didn't fade as he let the question hang in the air between them for a few moments.
"I'm afraid that's not quite right. I'd much prefer that you leave before your checkout time because that gives me an excuse to help with your... desolation."
He didn't really go into what he meant because he assumed that the urakata would know what he meant. He'd killed more urakata than he could count. He enjoyed it. It made him feel a little bit better each time he did.
"I am Shinkansen afterall. My job's to clean up the filth."
He took his sword from his shoulder and rested it against his leg, with his hand on the handle as he leaned against the closed hospital door.
"I just need to know how an urakata ended up so badly hurt. And it not have anything to do with me. I hate not being invited to a party."
He knew that Shadow would be scared of him if she saw him like this but it was his job and his nature. He had to threaten and he had to poke back when another poked at his pride. If it came to blows, he'd hit back as hard as he could. That's what he'd been trained to do, and he wasn't about to go back on that now. | |

What Doesn't Kill Me
Makes Me Feel Alive!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Buck did sound better then being address as a male deer. He supposed that could go the same way for him. Though, in all honesty he would like to be address as something else other then a bear. Now that he thought about it, it really didn't make any sense to him. He needed to stop thinking about what was proper to call someone and what wasn't. It was just a pointless thing really. Feral brushed the subject away at that. He had bigger problems to worry about and his current one was standing in front. Fearl arched a brow at the man as if he might of been the one to land on his head and not himself. "I think that lovely nurse thought otherwise when they stuck these on me." Casually, he picked at the loose fitting hospital pants that covered his lower half. Curiously, he glanced to his right and noticed a tall medical cabinet. Turning his back towards the man without a care in the world he promptly opened the metal doors and took a peek inside. All these lovely insults did get to him a bit but he chose to keep his reactions to himself. But he sure as hell wanted to knock off that smug smile off his lovely face. He skimmed through the contents within and tossed out needles, swabs, and other useless items. None of the items here could be of any use to him. Shoving over a large amount of spare bandaids he saw what he was looking for right then. "I think I can take care of my "desolated" self, thanks." The bear stated and pulled off the shelf two medium sized wrappings that where used to cover guaze or sprang ankles. Looking it over, he popped the package open and just started to whistle a Dixie tune. With the skill of a professional he wrapped around his knuckles, between his fingers and around his wrist with both hands. He popped a metal clasp over the bandages to keep them in place as he walked over to the man blocking his exit. Mmm, a Shinkansen. He couldn't remember what that word meant but he knew he didn't like it. Something about that word just sit with him in all the wrong ways. Why did it piss him off so much? The more he tried to dig for the answer mentally the more it hurt his sandy-blond head. "I can't really tell you. I'm not sure even myself." He asked casually while checking the wrappings over his hands. They weren't there to help his hands heal or to cover the cuts that covered them. He need them for cushion and support. "But tell me, Mr. Shinkansen, do you sing? You look like you could carry some notes." He commented, flexing his fingers to allow the wrap to settle into place. Preferably, Castrato." As soon as he finished his sentence the bear pulled his fist down and went in for an upper cut at close range. Feral figured if he could get in one powerful shot he could possibly take down the guy with one hit. Of course, he also took into account that if he missed he was going to have to do something about that sword. He didn't feel like having to get re-stitched up. |
Ajax watched him make a mess of the medicine cabinet without much thought. It wasn't his job to clean up the mess so he didn't really care one way or the other about it. As for the hospital pants, he decided to hold back his comment about all hospital pants being one size fit all. Ajax was one to enjoy wiping the look of victory off others faces but he'd prefer to hit this one instead.
The guy pulled out some gauze and wrapped his hands. Ajax wasn't an idiot, the guy wanted a fist fight. Well, that was amusing in and of itself. It had been awhile since he had had a good old fashion fist fight. It seemed like Ajax might have hit a nerve when he told him about being a member of the Shinkansen. The fact that he claimed not to know anything irked him though. Obviously he would have to hit him hard enough to get some answers out of him.
He pulled his fingerless gloves from his back pocket, putting them on while his sword leaned against his side. He chuckled at the question just as he came flying at him. Ajax' training wouldn't allow for him to be caught off-guard so easily. With the door at his back though, he was limited in his movements. So he moved to his side, and while in the motion of doing that, he propelled his sword. Not towards the urakata, but towards the door. The wood splintered from the impact and went into the ground on the other side. The door would have to be severely forced to open now, or the sword would need to be removed.
Ajax decided that he would play along with this bear. He'd always wanted to wrestle a bear, so why not start now. With that in mind, he shot his fist quickly towards the bears side. If the blow it it wouldn't do much besides sting but it was only meant to sting. What fun would it be if their match ended so early? With that, he moved away waiting for the man's next move. His fists at the ready, a smug grin still on his face.
"I've never been much of a singer. But if I was, I'd be an Alto." In truth, he was finding this fun but he knew to take it at least somewhat seriously.
What Doesn't Kill Me
Makes Me Feel Alive!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Fearl was highly disappoint when his fist connected to nothing but pure empty air. So much for taking the man down in one hit. Twisting on the ball of his heel he kicked up and over in a wide arc. Of course, the human was no where near his reach as he had moved out of the way leaving his heel to connect to the hardwood floor roughly. Feral's position switched into defense with the gentlemen now at the ready for any further attacks made by the bear. Feral spared a quick glance to the door that was now at his back. Ah, so that was what that sound was all about. The fella had stuck his sword through the door and promptly locked it the old fashioned way. There was no way the bear would be able to escape unless he managed to break the door or get the sword out of the floor. Seems Mr. Castrato was a smart man. He had to give him props for the quick thinking. Not many would think about using their weapon for a door stop. His eyes snapped back onto Ajax. It seemed the man did not account for the squeaky boards that gave away to the fact he was moving in for a quick punch. Feral adjusted his stance to counter the blow. Bending slightly, he cupped his hands together and caught the fist before it made contact to his already bruised flesh. He looked down and huffed lightly. "Not bad." Remarked the bear and allowed the human to pull back for only a half second. Taking to steps towards him Feral twisted on the ball of his heel once again with the idea to land a swift punch across Ajax's face while his second fist followed suit towards the male's gut. Feral was bound to do some kind of damage either it be heavy or light. Feral hadn't thought about it yet but moving around like he currently was would take a toll on his body faster then he would of liked. It hurt to move even though he ignored the strain he was feeling. It was all mind over matter and as long as he could keep his mind on his opponent and not on his current pain levels then he would be fine. Maybe, by the grace of god, he could take him down, yank the sword out and get the hell out of dodge. "Alto? I find that hard to believe. I doubt you could even hit the required notes."

Feral's futile kick made Ajax grin wider, his green gaze focused on his target. The squeak of the boards below him gave him away it seemed. He made not to compensate for the sound if the need ever arose again. It gave the bear just the time he needed to catch Ajax's fist. H
e was surprised that the bear let him pull away from him, and he knew a hit would follow it only made sense since the bear had given him the small seconds. Both fists were coming at him. His grin didn't fade as he moved out of the way of the first jab and the other hitting slightly off mark but the familiar sting didn't wipe the grin from his face. This was gonna be more fun than Ajax had thought.
Not giving Feral time to pull back his fist, he wrapped his arm around his fist, setting his feet firmly before forcing a punch straight for his stomach. Once he had done this, he dropped all his weight onto the bear's arm, getting his legs underneath himself to trip the bear up before rolling away, trying to avoid anymore coming blows. He moved away and waited for the bear's next move.
"As I said, I'm not much of a singer. I much prefer to make others sing for me. Much more pleasing to the ear."

What Doesn't Kill Me
Makes Me Feel Alive!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~On second thought, maybe he should be more worried about keeping himself on his own two feet. He had suffered quite a few wounds from the accident he had been in not long ago. Sure, the pain medication was working fairly well with him but his stride could only last for so long before his body would give out, medicated or not. Feral had honestly believed he had the man for a moment. His first punch had missed his target but the second was off the mark. Having done that, he second guessed himself. Had he miscalculated the distance or was he medication messing with him. That half a second delay of narrowed eyed irritation cost him dearly. Normally, he would of pulled back after that kind of attack. However, he was slow today and the man caught his fist much to Feral's distaste. Even more to his displeasure was the fact he was currently suffering from a punched gut. The bear huffed in pain and bent over slightly from the blow. Air caught in his lungs but he quickly pulled himself together. He was a fighter after all and he still had his wits. The bear planted his feet in an tempt to stay grounded but the shift of weight wasn't fast enough. He landed on the ground back first due to the shifting of weight. The man was smart enough to roll out of Feral's path. He judged the fact that he would be unable to make a counter from his current position. Ajax was out of his range but being on a squeak floor wasn't the best choice. Forcing his body to roll back, he found himself in the same space he had originally started at, however hunched down rather then standing. Well, wasn't that just lovely. The bear was about to stand and get back into a position that was less vulnerable when he noticed something a bit awkward. Firmly planted behind his back was the sword keeping the door closed and ironically enough his target was in a perfect position. With a quick smirk he replied, "Funny, so do I." putting his arms up and over his head he took hold of the sword behind him. Awkwardly, he forcefully jerked it out of its make shift sheath, and with all his might he sent the sword flying at Ajax over his head. Now the true question was at hand, had Feral actually aimed properly or did his vision just at the right moment split so that he saw two Ajax's and not one. The answer soon came to light once Feral noticed that his trajectory was off by at least an inch and that sword was still headed for Ajax but at its current angle, well, someone might have to replace an window. |
The guy was heavily medicated, which is why Ajax wanted to have a little hand-to-hand. The best part was if he got hurt too badly, they were already at the hospital. It was a prefect scenario to have a little fun in. Hikaru would probably have done the same... actually he was pretty sure she would be surprised that he would take to sparring while off duty. Actually, now that he thought about it, he really wanted to just take a nap somewhere.
Not that there was time to think about such things. His punch to the guy's gut hit, and he bent over from the blow. Ajax wanted to slam his knee home but decided to draw this out as long as he could. He needed the exercise. The guy recovered fairly quickly, much to Ajax' surprise. This urakata had fighting experience. It showed in his movements. Who knew that while punching each other out that he would get the intel he needed?
He caught him off-guard just long enough to trip him up. The bear ended up on his back. After rolling away, Ajax was back on his feet by the window of the room. The urakata was hunched down on the floor. Ajax huffed in disappointment. "Damn! Are the meds wearing off already? I was just starting to have fun." The movement towards his back caught Ajax's attention. He was going to throw his own sword at him? The little cheat! Ajax had trained catching his sword but the guy's aim had been way off. So rather than catching the blade, it went out the window.
"..." He was silent a moment, as if what had just happened needed to be confirmed. The ting of metal against stone clicked it all into place. Ajax went from amused to pissed off in a millasecond. "You're so...." He took a step towards the hospital bed, and tossed the entire thing at the urakata. "DEAD!!"
He then ran after the bed, towards his target as if he would push the target home but in actuality, he was waiting for the bear to either move and be caught unawares or to force him against the wall.
What Doesn't Kill Me
Makes Me Feel Alive!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~An awkward silence swept through the hospital room. It was really like watching a film in slow motion. By the time Feral’s vision evened itself out he could clearly see that his vision had been a huge problem here. The sword sailed past Ajax and went right through the window. It was almost comical how the two got so eerily silent. They both seemed at a lose of what had just happened. It only clicked in the bears mind when he heard the distant ting of metal on stone. It was a clear ringing as it rolled about and he wondered if the car passing by the hospital would run over the sharpened steel. Slowly, he turned his vision to Ajax. Whelp, this was very much unexpected and the only word that came out of the drugged out bear was a plain and simple, ”Huh…” Hmm, well. He wasn’t sure what to make of the sudden lose of the sword. Curiously, he watched the human’s expression slowly changed in the matter of seconds. In retrospect, this whole event was rather comical when one stopped to think about it. But seeing as neither was clearly going to stop and go, ‘Say! Wasn’t sword accident kinda neat?’. No. No, that wasn’t happening. But Feral knew very well that he should be ready to move. The man was looking tense and ready to become a bull in a china shop. It was almost like a quick mental count down. ”Oh….” This wasn’t going to be good and thank god for his natural ability to get the hell out of the way from a flying bed. How in the hell did that guy manage to flip a bed at him? The world may never know but what the world did know was that Feral had barely managed to dodge the bed. It grazed past his arm as he rolled out of the way and went to a standing position. Feral was far from a dumb bear. He could see the Shinkansen coming straight for him. The bear decided not to brace for an impact as he was certain that his normally sturdy stance would not hold up to the charge in his current condition. Instead, he decided to play to his strengths. If he was too weak to take a charge then he would find a way around it. He could flip the man, duck, trip him up or anything. He stood at the ready as he prepared himself for some on coming rage. Really, all of this for a sword… |

That sword was his past. It was his gift from his father, and it was also the blade his father had killed himself on. It was the blade that drew the blood of his entire family circle. That blade had saved his life on many occasions, and taken just as many lives. In part, he would be happy to be rid of the memories that stained the blade like the blood that never can be washed from your hands. Another part wanted to grasp on to whatever he could from the past, just to know that it was real and that he had survived it all. Now that blade had been sent flying out a window by a beat up bear man with poor eyesight and aiming ability.
Ajax throwing the bed was not the worst thing that could have happened. In his mind, he threw syringes and surgical equipment at him. In fact, the idea of throwing the bear out the window after his sword didn't seem like a bad idea either. There were so many thing that he could do to express his outrage. Yet even though he was angry beyond words, he was trained not to let it blind him. Yet another lesson his father had forced him to learn and master.
The bed grazed the bear's arm and he prepped himself for another incoming attack, even on pain meds the bear was a quick thinker. Once again, the red-haired man was sure that this urakata had had some form of training in combat. Ajax propelled his fist towards the other man's face. He expected the blow to be caught though and instantly followed it up with a knee to the injured guy's stomach. If he could dodge one blow maybe he would be distracted enough to let the second one hit. If not, he would have to take whatever blow came his way afterwards but he was gonna come back swinging again. This bear had gone too far. Now Ajax was serious.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Speaking of pain medications, it was really starting to screw with him. His vision just loved to split into two and then return to one image. It was like he took far too many hits to the head without the facial damage. It was done right irritating and totally uncalled for right now. He needed to be able to focus, judge distance, speed and how the man was coming at him. The knowledge he needed was hard to get with how foggy his head current was being. Still, he forced himself to settle down, not to get frazzled by the his current position. If he wasn’t careful he was going to end right back up in that hospital bed or worse six feet under. That did not settle well with the bear. He had things to do and people to find. He needed to know who he was and why he couldn’t remember a damn thing. It bugged him like no other! Using that as an incentive to keep himself on track, he forced himself to be in the position he had to be in. Clearing his mind , he was ready for the next wave. He rolled his shoulders once as the fist came flying to his face. He took the hit full on with a wicked grin. His head jerked back but that was all right. He needed Ajax to get close to him. His left hand came down and took hold of the knee that went in for his gut. Capturing it only an inch from his gut he took a firm hold the red head’s leg. He had enough time to only give the man a viciously charming smile before he swept the man off his feet with a quick twist of his heels and spun himself and the other around for a full half arc and let the man fly. While the red head was launched, Feral took a page from the others book. But instead of lifting a bed to swing after the other, the bear lifted up an old chair and tossed it at the flying red head. He didn’t care if it hit him or not but he marched on after it. If the man hadn’t knocked himself silly he would soon see a large fist swinging down at him in a strong arc. |
Ajax was surprised when the bear took the full blunt of his punch. The grin had him on the look out for his retaliation. The stopping of his knee pissed him off more than surprised him. Next thing Ajax knew, he was sent flying towards the wall on the far side of the room. His training instantly kicked in, He turned himself and the red head hit the wall on his feet, and instantly pushed off towards the chair that the bear threw towards him. He grabbed hold of the chair before it could hit him, landing on his feet with the chair in his hand.
He rubbed the back of his neck, slightly annoyed that the bear had thrown him like a doll. His face was no longer amused. Not that he had felt amused since his sword had went out the window. His legs stung from the impact with the wall but nothing he couldn't fight through. He threw the chair to the side of the room and stared daggers at his opponent. He was pretty sure that his left ankle was sprained which is why he didn't instantly move towards a counter attack. He didn't move so his slight injury wouldn't reveal a weakness. Instead, he stood waiting for the bear to make his next move. He wasn't going to let it out that he'd gotten hurt in that last maneuver. He'd rather the bear think that being thrown hadn't hurt him in the slightest. He really wished he had his sword now. He was itching to take off a limb.
