WHEN IT GETS COLD OUTSIDE AND YOU GOT NOBODY TO LOVE Tag: None. Words: 1,248 Note: I don't expect 1,000+ W. in the reply, in fact please don't. Thanks. |
Thousands of soft frozen tears drifted down slowly covering the crags in a fluffy cloud. There was no wind; no sound, the silence was deafening yet strangely peaceful. Only the shards of moonlight made the frozen world glimmer and shine. Puffs of his warm breath fogged up the air around him for fleeting moments. The ends of his hair crystallized and clinked together like chimes every time his ears twitched or shifted. He foot prints leading to where he has been slowly faded as he stood stark still in his own version of heaven. Padded feet were rooted to the ground, buried deep in the white blanket going painfully numb. However, he continued to stay frozen in the spot like the icicles hanging in the scarce trees below. Camellia Rose colored eyes closed, letting his ears strain to catch any sound in the silence, letting himself feel the cold air wrap around him and the snow drape on his head and shoulders like a wet blanket. He was tense waiting for that sweet sound of life that would ensure his survival. There it was. That soft crunch of foot falls in the snow. His eyes opened slowly as if even the smallest moments would scare off his very survival. His eyes scanned the area below slowly until he spotted it. A rather feral grin took over his face as he gauged the distance, between the ten foot drop and the fifteen feet between the rock face and the target. Then Shi leapt. Shin’s eyes snapped open, only to stare up at the bars hanging over his head. Nothing could express the disappointment and crushing sadness that over whelmed his senses in that moment. It was just a dream; a distant memory that he would give anything to experience again, anything to go back, anything to have it be real again. Shin sat up as much as he could in his tiny (only two foot tall) cage as he blinded away the tears trapped in his eyes. The stupid thing made him feel a bit claustrophobic, although it was five feet wide which made it somewhat better. Whoever made the cage made the bars wider apart so people could reach their hands and arms in comfortably, however, they made it so that if he reaches through the bars his shock collar goes off. He was somewhat use to these conditions so it didn’t really bother him anymore and it was better than some of the other Urakatas’ cages. What did bother him was the temperature of the place. It was overly warm. If the temp is warm for most people than it is hot and very uncomfortable for him. His body was made for surviving and thriving in freezing cold weather not warm or heaven forbid hot weather! Great, he was hardly awake and he was already irritated. It wasn’t like he could ask someone to turn the temperature down, even a little bit. First off, they would probably just laugh at him before going about their business. Second, Shin was located in the front room of the Auction House. I was kind of how like in some pet stores they have some animals in the window so people walking by in the street can see them. Well, he was kind of on display like that, because they couldn’t put him in the broken Urakata room and they could put him in the unbroken one either (Shin who doesn’t really fit into either category), so they kind of show cased him instead. Thus he couldn’t really ask to have the front room’s temperature lowered. Shin’s tail was flicking back and forth as much as the cage would allow without the giant thing getting too close to the bars. It was wrapped around him completely making him even hotter. He was almost tempted to strip most of his clothing off to cool down, however, he didn’t feel like dealing with the guards he would almost certainly get in trouble with that the moment. Maybe he would later if it got too hot, for now though he could deal with it. The worst part of this whole situation though, was that fact that he was alone, in a crowded market place, and was rather irritated. It was like a cocktail of all his phobia’s combined, well minus one, but still. Shin closed his eyes and focused on breathing deeply to try and prevent a meltdown, else they might move him into the broken Urataka room where he would be forced to witness and listen to everyone around him suffer. His heart just couldn’t take that. Unfortunately, it was a busy day at the Auction House; Shin hated busy days. Busy days were the worst. Not only did it get crowded and loud, but it also more of the demons and they seemed to be crazier than usual… These little demons (the things that humans call children) are always running around on busy days like psychopaths screaming their little heads off whether in fear, joy or some other emotion, which not only hurt his ears but also brought on unpleasant memories to the front of his mind. The best part is their so-called parents are always nowhere in sight! And even when they are they can’t seem to control their little demon or demons. These little “children” also treat him like he’s some animal in a petting zoo; sticking their little hands through the bars to yank his ears, hair, and tail (if they can get their grubby little hands over around it that is), admiring the pattern on them. There was certainly enough of his tail to go around being four foot long and all. However, it was also very thick and muscular. Thus, it was somewhat amusing to watch the kids try to wrap their tiny little hands around it, only to fail quite miserably. Shin stopped trying to stop them or even scare them away. He would just kind of look at them with a “Really?” expression of his face with one eyebrow raised and his ears twitching. If or when the parents finally showed their face to get the little demon/demons. He can’t help but remark, “You can’t control your own child yet you think you can control an Urakata.” Really, the human parents are delusional. Of course the parents get made and call over a guard to “punish” him. There was only one time where things went really bad. This little boy demon put a fire ant in his tail. Let’s just say it didn’t end well. The kid was scared for life and Shin got strung up by his tail for an hour, maybe a day (he couldn’t really tell through the pain). He thought his tail was going to pop off by the end of it! As anyone can see busy days were fantastic! Shin couldn’t help but groan, when he was snapped out of his musings by the sound of a high pitch screech that only a little girl was capable of, form the word, “KITTY!” He could already hear the pounding of the little demons feet racing towards him. Just great, it was still only early morning and “They” had already found me. And by “They” he means the demons of course. It saddened him that he couldn’t even hate humans. His life would be much simpler if he could just hate them. However, he could only really look upon them with pity. |
