Why does it have to be so loud? Why does it hurt so bad? Why am I even here?, Alexia couldn't help but repeat theses questions over and over again in her head. The small girl found herself huddled up in the corner of an over sized cage -at least it was to her-, her body bruised and cut leaving her to look like a pitiful mess. How did she even end up here in the first place? After years of avoiding capture they had finally managed to track her down, of course she would never go willingly and had to put up a fight of some sort which landed her in a terrible beat up mess. Many of her potential 'masters' seemed to take an interest in her until seeing how much trouble she could possibly be. She made sure to assure each and every human that approached her cage that she would get free sooner or later, if she had to sit in this place the rest of her life she would be fine with that so long as she wasn't someone else' property.
She had escaped her first master when she was only a child and had remained free for many years after that by being careful and staying out of sight. It seemed however after food became scarce she had to compromise her position in order to eat leading her to be tracked down. It was a terrible thing to be captured over having to go for food but at least she could say she fought them every step of the way! That seemed to be the only thing holding her together as she listened to those around her roaring out in anger and begging for their freedom. She would never give the humans the satisfaction of hearing her beg unlike many of these poor creatures. Turning her body she looked out into the path between cages noticing no one was around she couldnt help but get a wonderful idea, slip through the bars. It seemed easy in theory though as soon as she pushed herself from the ground she seen it wasn't going to be that easy.
She moved to the front of her cage a sigh leaving her lips wanting nothing more than to be out of this cage and back out in the city. Did she really do something so terrible to end up in this situation? In a humans opinion that was a big yes, being born doomed her to this life she had just managed to avoid it for a little longer than most. Can someone bring me some food? Preferably some trail mix!, she called out through the bars her voice carrying through the room earning her laughs from some of those around her. She could dream right?

What Doesn't Kill Me
Makes Me Feel Alive!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The auction house was busy as ever and it seemed like everyone and their grandmother was out and about. Each individual here was shopping for the perfect urakata for themselves, children, friends and family members. People of all ages moved about and looked into every cage or corner that held a bound urakata to whatever they where attached. It felt like he was in some kind of awkward pet shop. He couldn't understand why everyone seemed so excited to be here while his kind all huddled up in their respect locations like some kind of beaten animal. Why not just sit back and enjoy the unwanted ride? What could it hurt. Apparently, their pride as many just snapped their jaws at passing people. Yes, that was a smart thing to do, snap at someone who might take a liking to you and knock you about for it. Brilliant. Fearl, on the other hand was the type of urakata that sat in his own iron cage with little care in the world. He leaned back against the cold bars with one knee bent so he could rest his arm upon it while the other leg was stretched out before him. His clothing was a bit wrinkled but that happened when you lodged about in a bar covered area. He didn't mind it anyways as he did not look to impress anyone that past by his location. His dark eyes just watched people pass by with little interest. One would think with his personal issues that he would be searching the crowd for someone that looked familiar and reach out to them. He probably would of if he thought it might help him out of this area but he doubted it would. So, he merely entertained himself with those around him. He glanced over to his left and watched an armadillo type urakata try to hide himself from public view. The poor thing looked like this was his first time in an auction house. Well, it was rather uncomfortable having everyone peer at you like a big juice steak. Feral couldn't hold that against him. He would probably do the same thing if he could remember if he had been here before or not. It was an interesting experience to say the least even if he did not care for the crowd that made him uneasy even if he didn't show it outwardly. Feral let out a soft sigh and closed his eyes. Nothing interesting was happening and sooner or later the auction house would close for the day. Then maybe he could go about his business in peace? Probably not. He was getting ready to dose off when a voice called out about something to do with trail mix. Confused at the laughter he cracked an eye open and turned his head to the right. Ah, it must of been that girl who said that as she looked less then impressed with those around her. She was small in stature and nothing interesting to see. Sure, she was pretty but also she was about average in Feral's opinion. Slowly, he raised a brow at her. "I wouldn't accept strange foods from people passing by. It might turn out to be something less then appealing." He said in a bored tone. "You might get more then you bargained for."
It was painfully obvious that Alexia wasn't use to being locked up and at the mercy of humans, she was graced with more freedom than most Urakata had ever seen and because of that she had grown a bit soft. Her features as a urakata were fairly easy to hide meaning she could just get a little money and go get food for herself like anyone else, only once in her life had she ever been treated this poorly by anyone. She felt a bit discouraged as those around her laughed causing her to go back to the back of her cage and plop back down onto the floor feeling a bit more beat down than before. Was this really happening? To her of all people? She had never hurt anyone in her freedom as a matter of fact she never even communicated with other people unless she had to yet that for some reason earned her a place in this terrible place. Her stomach let out a growl just as she heard the voice of a man close by, turning her head just enough she caught sight of just who it was that was talking to her.
Choosing not to reply to him at first she stayed silent having no real socialization with other urakata other than the few slaves she had ran into over the years, what was she suppose to say? " Then how do you suggest I go about getting food?", she replied with a snap having gone without eating for what felt like days, that was what landed her in this place after all. She was angry at herself for allowing something like this to happen, being locked up like an animal and being treated like property she wouldn't wish this on anyone not even the humans that brought her here. She turned her head looking over at him a bit better now, he really didn't look like much just another locked up person...what was he suppose to be anyways? Some kind of dog maybe? Had he been here longer than her? Why had she not noticed him until now? She didn't have time to think on it much before her mind began to wander to other things.
With her heart slowly floating down to her stomach she was starting to think there would be no escape from this place, maybe they were going to starve her to death then toss her in a ditch with fifty other dead people. What kind of place was this?! She felt a shiver move through her body pulling her knees up to her chin, maybe this wasn't an auction house at all maybe this was where they brought people to die! " Are they going to kill us? Starve us to death and throw us in a ditch out back or something...?", She asked quietly her eyes fixed on him for a moment before moving away. She was afraid her life was going to end in this place if she wasn't picked by some snobby human soon or better yet managed to escape. " Humans couldn't be that bad ... right?
What Doesn't Kill Me
Makes Me Feel Alive!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Feral slowly raised a brow at the young blond. He wasn't really sure what to think of her other then suddenly very childish. How old was she really? Maybe she was around fifteen? It was pretty hard to tell from his current position. Oh well, with a shrug of his shoulders he merely watched her like a predator. He didn't mean to but it just kinda happened with his profession of being a fighter. He sized down anyone and anything withing his field of vision looking for weak points. He had to remind himself that he had no need to go up in arms here as there really was no point to it. Feral huffed lightly with a shake of his head. Lord, was she a pig? He didn't think she had been here very long from how she acted about things in general, especially about food. "My advice, sit back and be a good little patient girl. Then, maybe someone will come by and give you some bread." Or, maybe if she just shut her trap for a few minutes about food she could find some other kind of distraction. Really, people watching was in style after all and the more you watched someone the more nervous they got around you. Cheap entertainment really. Alexia became his entertainment now with her crazy reactions. She had never been in an auction house in her life but to be honest that could be said about Feral. At least, with what he could remember anyways. It was still very possible that he had been here before with how familiar certain things felt. He, of course, shrugged of those feelings as a dog does water -- quick and easy. "You're a bit dramatic, aren't you?" He asked with a look of mild disbelief. Glancing around he took a quick assumption from the look of other Urakata's. "I don't believe they will starve you and if they did Mrs. Boney would of died all ready." He gestured to a female urakata that looked to be related to walking stick insect. "Nor do I believe they are going to let everyone here die and throw them into some crazily big ditch outside like prisoners of war. What kind of profit would that get them?" None, it would make no ones wallet explode with riches and dead bodies were difficult to deal with especially if you had over, let's say, twenty. There were certainly more then twenty of his kind here in this auction house too. "Just sit back and enjoy the show, what other choice do you have?" Inquired the bear while he bared his large teeth at a young woman that got to close to his cage. The poor startled thing shrieked and ran back to what might of been to her husband. Her hands wildly gestured at Feral in a way that suggested she was talking about how horribly scary he was and would not be purchased. |

Just when it seemed thing's couldn't get much worse Alexia's stomach gave off another roar trying to remind her that it was time for food, while the girl was small she had the appetite of a full grown man and then some. She would kill for some trail mix right about now her mouth practically watering as she thought of the sweet tastes that came along with the mixture of seeds and candies. She would move her hand down to rub at her stomach attempting to quieten the beast that seemed to be occupying her at the moment unable to really comprehend why she couldn't just go and get her own food or even get out and walk around for that matter.
" I don't understand why I have to sit here and wait for them! If they would just let me out for a few minutes I could get what I need and be done with it.", she grumbled knowing good and well why they wouldn't just let her out whenever she wanted to do what she wanted. " This is ridiculous.", This was probably the first sensible thing the young bird had said all day. Reality was finally starting to sink in and she finally put the pieces together realizing things were never going to be the same for her ever again, her entire way of life had been shattered completely. She looked over at Feral taking note of him watching her like she was a snack the hair on the back of her neck standing up a bit and soon she would scoot to the other side of her cage. " Birds are friends not food. "
" I really don't think being concerned should be counted as being dramatic.", she huffed a bit of a pout coming to her lips shooting a half hearted glare in his direction. Even though she would never admit it she knew she was being a bit over dramatic. She wasn't completely stupid and thus wouldn't put it past these terrible people to take them every one out back and kill them just for the meanness of it. Glancing over at the stick like Urakata not to far away she let out an audible gasp eyes going wide for a moment upon seeing how small the woman was, " She needs food for sure...", she muttered at first before rolling her eyes, " Alright so you might be right! But still! It could happen! It's not like its so far away from the realm of possibilities."
Upon hearing his final words she couldn't help but watch him from the safety of her cage as he showed off his teeth to a poor woman that ventured just a little to close, it finally hit her what he was! All of the sudden she wanted nothing more than to cuddle him like the growly teddy bear she instantly pictured him to be, he wanted her to sit back and enjoy the ride? Well now she could! " You are so adorable! Do you have the cute teddy bear tail and everything?!", she asked him her hands itching to just cling onto him and never let go. All because he just HAD to be a bear.

What Doesn't Kill Me
Makes Me Feel Alive!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Feral started to second guess himself. Not on the situation at hand nor the about when they might get feed but on the idea of if this girl was really a bird or not. She looked like one but with how she acted he wondered if she was part pig or something. How could someone like her be so damn hungry? He could hear the stomach noises from his own cage and that was very unsettling. If she thought he might take a bite of her, she was greatly mistaken. He was a bit concerned that she might take a bite out of him if he was any closer. Shaking his blond head to clear his thoughts he then looked at her funny. "I'm assuming you have never been in here before?" Well, nor had he if his memory served right but he wasn't freaking out about it either. There was very little he could do in his current situation anyways.
Why bother to fight the system that you have no chance against? The large bear shrugged his broad shoulders. "Maybe, but I consider everything to be part of the food chain." Even if he didn't want to eat the girl someone else might be craving KFC. Feral gave her a look that showed that she was beyond his way of thinking. Heck, was she even thinking? "Girl, there is a fine line of being concerned and being over dramatic. You dance on that fine line like your doing the Cha'Cha."
There she went again with the idea of mass murder. Man, what really went on in this girls mind? Groaning lightly, Feral pinched the crown of his nose and did his very best to try and ignore her at that moment. It might of worked too if he so suddenly wasn't taken off guard by her next statement and questions. A-Adorable? Adorable! How in the world was someone like him adorable! He wasn't a teddy bear that needed a good cuddle and a bed time story for heavens sake. As for the tail, well, he found out he did have one but it wasn't something he was going to announce to the world! "No, I don't have a tail." The bear lied through clenched teeth. "And I am in no way, a "cute teddy bear", honey." Lord, he was going to need to use his patience to the fullest today. |
Alexia looked to the urakata in the cage to her other side eying the poor creature for a moment realizing that they had food stashed away in their clothes, as much as she wanted to yell and scream out at them she instead decided to take this moment to try and worm her way closer to them. If she could just steal a little food she would be set for at least another five minutes right? Reaching her hand through the bars she stretched just as far as she could go her head stopping her from getting any farther through the bars her fingers outstretched just as far as her body would allow her. Just when she was about to grab what looked like a bag of crackers it was jerked away and the angry eyes of the beast were on her, she shyed away and returned her limb to her own cage a pout etching across her lips. " Nope~ Took them years to catch me. What about you? Doesn't seem like your first time being locked up.", she asked turning her attention back to him for the time being.
Narrowing her eyes at him for a moment knowing good and well he was every bit the predator he seemed but it wasn't like she had to worry about getting eaten right? He probably couldn't fit his fat head through the bars on his cage so she was safe if he did start to get a little rumble at the stomach...hopefully unless they planned to use her for food! Her mind started racing again but she silenced all of those outrageous thoughts for now focusing on him struggling to keep away from the subject of death. She didn't reply to him knowing she was fighting a loosing battle with him, oh well one day he would see that she was right!
While she was rather annoyed with the bear at her side she couldn't help but swoon over the fact that he was a bear, there was something about them that made her just want to cuddle them to death. He would forever be viewed as adorable in her eyes regardless of how growly or intimidating he may get towards her, he was stuck with her from now until he was taken out of this place and even then she would still swoon like a school girl if she seen him around the city. " Really? Because you look like a cute teddy bear~ ", she replied back to him with an arched brow. She didn't believe for a second that he didn't have a tail how could he not? What kind of bear would he be if he didn't have that cute little stub of a tail!? This was attention he probably wasn't wanting but she just couldn't help herself~ at least she wasn't talking about mass murder right? " I think you do have a tail~", she said in a sing song voice leaning her back against the back of her cage a subtle smirk etching across her lips. Looked like he was her entertainment now.
What Doesn't Kill Me
Makes Me Feel Alive!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just how clueless could this girl be? Did she not understand her situation or the fact that she was just here to be gawked at like a piece of steak at a market? People like her often hurt his blond head a bit too much. But maybe if he had kept his mouth shut he wouldn't of had to deal with this girl. But, nope he had to the urge to speak and now she was never gonna shut up. Feral moaned lightly and tilted his head back against the bars. Well, she had to have some kind of smarts to her if she avoided capture for so damn long. Being addressed, the bear merely looked up to the ceiling. Shrugging his broad shoulders he offered her a reply, "I don't know. " A pure and simple answer to a simple question. The bear had no idea if he had been in this auction house before or if he had been captured in the past. He assumed that maybe he was as one man just chuckled at him and patted his cage when he first got here. It was like a silent welcome back that Feral didn't get. His mind was quickly taken off by his thoughts on the subject as he watched the girl fail at stealing food. She was really going to lose something at this rate. Still, he didn't bother to correct her but he did get a bit irked at her words. "Nothing about me screams cute or teddy bear." She wasn't listening to him and that really got him to twitch a bit. Couldn't she see that he wasn't something that was going to make a great cuddle buddy? Nothing about him looked soft other then the hair on his head. Plus, she was once again going on about tails. Good lord, yes he did have a tail but he still wasn't going to admit it to her of all people. "I. Don't. Have. A. Tail." he commented slowly so maybe she could comprehend his words. "Do you see one hanging out my ass? I sure don't." But that was because it was small and hidden in his pants like a smart boy. |
